Recap!

"Shirley?!" Landon Hastings's arm was loped around some girl's shimmery shoulders. I stuttered a reply, panicking. Thiswas his party wasn't it? That's why Sarah wouldn’t tell me . . . and why didn't he personally invite me?

Double-U-Tee-Eff? lol

Part Five!

My face was turning red wasn’t it? Suddenly, I felt like I didn’t belong at the party. I felt like I had no business being here. Sarah was silent behind me but her hand lightly circled around my wrist to let me know she was with me. I looked up at Landon again. His expression was unreadable for a split second. Then he smiled sheepishly at me, which wasn’t what I expected. I don’t know, I guess I was expecting him to laugh in my face and order me a taxi home. The girl who was clinging onto Landon gave me a dirty look but then disappeared back into the crowd of mingling people. Landon didn’t even notice her leaving.

“Well. This is awkward. Umm, what are you doing here?” He asked, scratching the back of his neck.

“My friend brought me here, for a night out.” I then inwardly cringed at my voice, which had shot up in a shrill pitch.

“Who’s your friend?” Landon’s eyes then shot to little Sarah, with her bouncy, curly red hair, and milky white skin. Sarah stepped out from behind me.

“This is Sarah.” I gestured to her.

“Sarah Brashares. We briefly met at my ex-boyfriend’s party- Jack. And your party was all over Twitter.” Sarah explained. Wow, everyone on Twitter knew about Landon’s party except for me. I don’t even have a Twitter, I thought bitterly. Landon nodded politely and said something about Jack, then turned back to me.Was he going to mention the “I’ll call you soon for next time- and then ditch” or should I?

“I guess I forgot to call you or something.” He looked sheepishly down at his shoes. Okay, so he did forget. Great. I didn’t know what to say. ‘Don’t worry it happens.’?

“It’s fine, don’t worry. It happens.” I blurted out before I could think of a better response. Damnit! I cringed again.

“I’m sorry. Look, I can make it up to you somehow I’m sure. Give me another chance and I’ll make it right.” Landon’s boyish grin beamed at me, making him look so irresistible. And it would be so uncouth for me to say no right?

“Sure, it’s fine!” I assured him with a smile. He smiled too again. Jeez, my mouth is aching now. What a night.

The next night, after a long day of looking for lofts and apartments, my realtor called me up and said that I loft I wanted – which yes, came with a bar! – came through so I could buy it! Now I need to book an interior designer. And buy a white fluffy cat. A downy comforter must be found too. I called up Sarah to tell her the news.

“Hey! I’m buying a loft!” I exclaim.

“Awesome, you better invite me over often! Cause my roommate can be such an overprotective scary bore. Sometimes I worry she could be like Leighton Meeser in The Roommate.” Sarah blabbers enthusiastically.I laugh at the last part.
