Sincere
I tapped my fingers against the kitchen table as I watched Effrin make us breakfast in his boxers. I pulled my robe up closer around my naked body as I looked over at the time, just now realizing how long Effrin and I had been making love. Damn. I was supposed to meet Antoine at the hotel earlier this morning. It's whatever. He'll fall for the 'Effrin wouldn't let me leave' act, even though it was the truth.
Effrin reached up in the cabinets and scratched the back of his head, realizing we really didn't have anything to eat here.
"Siiin," he dragged out as he closed the cabinets. "You tryna go out to get something to eat? We ain't got nothing here."
I shrugged my shoulders. "It doesn't matter, where are we going?" I asked as I slipped into my shoes.
He grabbed his hoodie off of the couch, put on his shoes and then the two of us left out. He shrugged his shoulders as he backed out of the driveway. "Where ever you wanna go. I got you, but you owe me," He looked over at me and slightly grinned as he tried reaching inside of my robe but I laughed and smacked his hands away.
I crossed my hands over my chest. "Stop it Vinny. Let's go to that Dairy Queen up on Rosa Parks."
He smacked his lips, hating that he ever let me choose the place, and turned around going in the direction of the Dairy Queen. "Damn why you always trying to put our lives in danger going up to that ghetto Dairy Queen?" He asked me.
"Because it's the only one around here and honestly this is your fault. You're the one who introduced me to that place. Remember our first date?" I asked him.
His stern face loosened up, turning happy again as he remembered how our first date went. He took me up to that Dairy Queen because, at the time I was living with my Grandma and she refused to let me go somewhere out of the neighborhood, so we had to go up to the closet place to home: Dairy Queen.
"Granny I have my money, cell phone and my pepper spray," I said for the fifth time today.
Effrin and I had been talking for months but never officially decided to go out on a date until now. This was mainly because I was still reluctant about the attempted robbery he caused. Guys around here can't be trusted, so I had to keep him on an extremely long leash.
"Alright honey, just please be careful for me. When are you coming back?" My Grandma asked.
I shrugged my shoulders. "In three hours or less. I'll be careful, I promise."
She sighed. "Okay, you remember my number right?"
I laughed at her being so over-protective. "Granny I've been living with you for almost three years of course I know your number, it's mine too! He's waiting on me, can I go? Please?" I asked her.
"Alright, just don't forget to call me when you're on your way home."
I nodded my head and kissed her before I finally broke free of her house. I love my Grandma to death but sometimes she needs to stop being so over-protective. I'm damn near 18, so I'm sure I'll be fine going out to Dairy Queen with Effrin. I walked the two blocks to Dairy Queen and when I got there I didn't see anyone else here. I was the only person in this empty parking lot.
He's been begging me for months to go out with him and now that I'm here he isn't. I hope this boy hasn't stood me up. I looked at my phone and didn't have any messages from him. I folded my arms and looked around, not seeing a car in sight except for the once that rolled past on the road. I rolled my eyes and turned around to the window so I could order something while I waited.
