KYLIE'S POV:
I always wondered what it would feel like to have your heart broken by someone you love. I guess I still don't know the answer but I now know how it feels to be betrayed by someone you considered your sister.
I sit on the couch in the dark. My mom switches on the light and walks in. "Moping isn't going to make things right Kylie." I sigh.
"I know. I just want to be alone mom." She gives me a look." I won't try anything stupid like suicide don't worry." She gives me a hug and the doorbell rings.Mom gets up to answer it and walks back in with Dylan. What does he want?.
"I come in peace." He says. My mom leaves us alone. Dylan sits next to me and stays silent for a bit. "Let me guess. You're angry, and hurt. You don't know why you got associated with me and you wish you could go back to your old life." I nod my head. "Will you talk to me?" He asks.
I face him. "Please turn off the light." He does what I say without arguing. He sits back down." Why?" I ask.
"Why what kitty?" He says in a whisper. "Why is Ashley so against me?" I whisper back.
"That would be my fault." I look at him and see his green eyes in the dark. "Ashley and I dated for five months. Two weeks before you joined our school I broke it of with her. I just couldn't keep up the fake crap. People assume that Ashley and I made for each other just because I'm the football captain and she is the cheer leading captain. To be honest that's what led us to date." I nod my head even though I know he can't see it."So now Ashley hates me because you and I are friends?" I ask. If this is why Ashley hates me she needs help. Serious help.
"No. Ashley hates you because I don't look at her the way I look at you. She's angry because..." He pauses. I look at him in the dark and meet his green eyes."Maybe you should leave." I say and he gets up. I follow him to the front door and he turns around to face me. "Will you be at school tomorrow?" He asks me. I nod. I seem to be doing that a lot. He gives me an awkward hug and leaves.
I walk upstairs so I can get some sleep. I lay in bed for about an hour and my phone vibrates. I answer the call without looking at the id. "Hello?" I whisper.
"Good night kitty." He says. I smile to myself. "Night cupcake."
I hang up and think that Dylan is the weirdest person I know.Nah I'm the weirdest person I know.
************
I wake up super early in a good mood. I think about calling Lexi but I realize the she is probably sleeping. I take a shower and get dressed in a crop vest and jeans that are ripped at the knee.
I watch an old episode of 2 Broke Girls and then go downstairs for breakfast. I find my mom drinking coffee.
"Hey mom." I say as if I wasn't semi-depressed yesterday. She gives me a look I can't read.
"Hi to you too. I'm guessing Dylan is the reason you're in a good mood?" She says. I laugh and proceed to eat my cereal in peace.Liam walks into the kitchen and I notice a change in his walk. "You seem different." He smiles at me but says nothing.
"He asked out Carly and she said yes." Mom says without even looking up. "Mom! What happened to privacy?" She laughs. "I don't mean to ruin the mood but the last time I gave someone in this house privacy they got someone else pregnant and moved out." I smile at mom. She seems happier than she was at the beginning when dad left.
Good for her .
I hear a car outside and get up. "That is my ride. Goodbye homosapiens." Liam laughs at the last thing I said.
I walk out the door and see her. I've been looking into her face for more that half a decade. I love that face. I would be miserable if I were to live without that face.
I run up to Lexi and hug her. "I'm so sorry for yelling at you." I say. She wraps her arms around me and sighs. "I'm sorry for acting without thinking." I remove myself from the hug and smile at her to know she is forgiven. We drive to school talking about how our week has been without one another.
Finally Daemon and Lexi have realized that they like one another and ate together. I'm so happy for her I can't even describe the feeling. I better tell Daemon that if he hurts Lexi I'll hurt him more than words can describe.
We get to school and people stare at me, some point and I try to ignore them. I catch one girl say, "She spread a rumor that she is dating Dylan."
I look at Lexi for help. And she mouths the website at me. Damn that stupid website. Ruining my nonexistent social life.
If I thought the people in the parking lot were bad then people in the hallways were worse. I spot Dylan walking in Ashley's direction. Ashley wraps her arms around Dylan and he removes them. He speaks loud enough so we can all hear. "Whatever twisted game you're playing leave Kylie out of it." Ashley looks disappointed but covers,it up real quick. "Why? I'm not the one spreading rumors that you and I are dating." Dylan rolls his eyes. "That's why Kylie means more to me then you do. She doesn't spread rumors. And she isn't fake." Ashley's cheeks go red and she walks away from Dylan.
Dylan walks towards me and winks at me. I blush and look into my open locker. I grab my books for the first periods and then turn to Lexi but she is no longer there. Instead I find a smirking face staring at me.
"Please stop acting creepy." I say and he laughs. I roll my eyes at him. "Nice speech. Must have taken you hours to prepare it." I say and he frowns. "Do we have to talk about that?" He asks. I shake my head.
"But we do have to talk about Ashley." I say. He nods and walks with me to class totally silent. This is awkward.
I sit next to Annie and class is normal. It doesn't seem like I missed anything important yesterday.
At lunch I sit with the guys, Annie, Hayley and Lexi. It seems there are many people joining us at our table. I sit there in silence. Thinking about my friends, my family and life. "Penny for your thoughts?" A low voice says into my ear.
"Stop serenading Kylie please. We are still here and trying to eat." Annie says. I giggle and Dylan rolls his eyes. "I was not serenading her. I was trying to have a private conversation." Hayley shakes her head and pulls out her phone. "Hey Kylie did you know that a picture of you and Dylan is trending on Instagram?" I look at her because I am lost. I haven't posted on Instagram in 2 months.
Hayley showed me her phone and I gasped. Dylan is standing in the pic picking up some girl who looks so flawless. With closer inspection I realize I am that girl. I look at Lexi who took this picture. "I liked the pic so I posted it and tagged both of you.' She says with a shrug. I get my phone and go into Instagram.
I used to have about 137 followers. Now I have 3786. Where did all these people come from? I look at Dylan in confusion. "I took a picture of you when you were trying out for track. Many of my followers saw it and followed you too." He says as if bored with this topic.
The bell rings and we all get up going our separate ways. "Bunk last lesson with me." A voice behind me says. I turn around to look at Dylan. I don't look him in the eye. I nod and he goes off to his next lesson.
