"What do you think how I feel like?! I lost my brother!"

"Oh, boo hoo! You're not the only one that lost somebody!"

"He's the only family I have left! Is it my fault that your family doesn't want to be associated with you? No! It's not! Go cry a river!"

Castiel growled at that and stepped closer to Sam. He was outraged, furious. How did Sam dare to even say those things? What made him act this way?

Sam on the other hand didn't look like he was about to back down, he was straightening his back and glaring at Castiel. He was aware of the fact that their fight was useless, that they wouldn't get Dean back sooner if they fought but it had been building up.

They were frustrated with everything, they exploded more often. They fought. They argued with Jody. They pissed off their friends and soon enough they were alone. It shouldvmake them stick together even more but it didn't help, they wanted Dean back, they wanted closure. But the police couldn't find anything, not a damn clue and it was just frustrating. The only way to find an outlet was to fight with each other.

"Oh, what now? Wanna punch me? Do it." Sam mocked and smirked at Cas. He didn't think Cas would really hit him, they only have fought with words, it had never gotten out of hand. They had never punched each other. They knew that if they did, they would be in serious trouble. Jody let them fight, she knew better than to stop the two of them but as soon as they would lay a hand on each other, she would be disappointed, angry and they would be in deep trouble.

Castiel, on the other hand, was tired of always being mocked, always having to listen to all those jabs and not do anything. He had to do something, he had to show that he wasn't weak, he had to show that he could fight for what he stood for. He didn't want to hurt Sam, not really, but he had to, didn't he? Sam would continue to be an ass if he didn't stop him right here and now. Cas could take much before he exploded but he had reached his tipping point.

And so he pulled his fist back, his eyes glaring with determination. Sam seemed to realize his mistake, seemed to realize that he had gone way too far, seemed to finally see that Cas wasn't the always gentle guy, and his eyes widened at those realizations. Cas's fist was about to collide with Sam's face,Castiel could almost feel how their skin would connect and -

"Castiel James Novak! If you dare to punch him, you can consider yourself under house arrest! Or, wait, you are anyway! As are you, Samuel Winchester!"

Castiel froze, his fist an inch or two away from Sam's face, and swallowed thickly. He realized that he had almost hit Sam who had started to be something like his younger brother, who was one of the few people he considered his friends.

And that was why it was even more horrible than he had thought. Why had he actually wanted to do that? Of course, they had been getting on each other's nerves for weeks, had been driving the other up the wall because they didn't get any news on Dean's location or any news on how the search for the Winchester went. But actually hurting each other? That was new. That was bad. It was horrible. It showed how much they needed to hear something good, they needed to know that the search was going somewhere, they needed some good news. They needed Dean.

"Sam... I'm so sorry." He whispered, his voice small. He probably was unable to hide the slight tremble either but he didn't care. It was unnerving that he had actually been about to hit Sam. It was unnerving that he wouldn't bat an eye and hurt Sam. He was scared of himself because what would have happened if Jody hadn't interfered? How far would he have gone?
