Alice in Wonderland was written by the mathematician, Charles Lutwidge  Dodgsonbetter known as Lewis Carroll.

Charles was a conservative mathematician who didn't believe in imaginary numbers (the square root of negative numbers)

He wrote Alice in Wonderland to proclaim that whoever used imaginary numbers was on drugs.

After learning this,  I will never look at Alice in the same way
