It doesn't take long to find Café Soleil, especially with such a beautiful girl standing outside it. I walk up to Serena who's standing in the Café's entrance.
With a wave, Serena says, "Hey!"
"Hey! Sorry! I didn't know you would be waiting on me like this," I say.
"Oh no, I just got here too! I was talking with Shauna. She's in the building across the street," replies Serena.
I'm relieved. I would of felt bad if she was waiting a long time. "I'm glad," I say.
"So, shall we?" says Serena.
"Let's," I reply.
We enter the café together and are surprised by who we see.
"Oh, it's Lysandre and... Is that Diantha?" says Serena.
Lysandre stands in the café next to a beautiful woman with short brown hair. Her all white clothing and wings on her jacket make her look just like an angel!
"Diantha as in one of the most famous movie stars in the world? What is she doing here? And what's she doing talking to him?" I ask.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you! Lysandre is the head of Lysandre Labs, which created the Holo Caster!" says Serena.
"Eh?!" I say loudly.
"Shhhh!" says Serena, placing her hand over my mouth. "Let's listen!"
"You played a young girl so wonderfully in your debut on the silver screen. Wouldn't you rather remain young and beautiful forever and always play such roles?" says Lysandre.
Diantha seems set off by the question but replies, "What a strange question... Why would I want to play the same old roles forever? Youth may be beautiful, but it's not all there is to life. Everything changes. I want to live and change like that, too. So I look forward to playing different roles as I get older."
"You were chosen to be a movie star, correct? Isn't it your duty to be ever beautiful? Everything beautiful should stay that way forever. I would make this world unchanging and eternal so all beauty will last forever. I can't stand the thought of the world becoming uglier, and I would end the world in an instant so that beauty never fades," says Lysandre.
Meanwhile, the lotion that is on Serena's soft hand is driving me crazy. It's tropical scent is incredibly powerful, and I feel as if I'm being both lured and suffocated at the same time. Unable to control myself, I give her hand a small lick.
Serena pulls her hand away and yells, "Calem!" in both embarrassment and shock.
Lysandre and Diantha now take notice of us, and we try to act natural.
"Oh. Hello, Calem, Serena," says Lysandre. "This is Diantha, one of the most accomplished movie stars in Kalos. She moves the multitudes with her excellent acting... Which is to say, she dedicates her life to making other people happy." He seems to gaze off a bit. "Oh! If only everyone were like her--what a beautiful world this would be!" Coming back to reality, he says, "If you'll excuse me."
Lysandre then makes his exit out of the café, leaving the rest of us to ponder about his weird philosophies.
"And who are you two?" asks Diantha, turning to the two of us.
"My name is Serena, and this is Calem," says Serena.
"You both have lovely names. Oh, and you're both Trainers!" says Diantha, noticing our clipped Pokéballs.
"Thank you," replies Serena.
"The both of us actually just got our second Pokémon right before this," I add.
A spark of interest gleams in her eyes. "Really? Can I see?" asks Diantha.
"Sure!" says Serena.
Serena and I both release our newly obtained Pokémon and hold them in our arms.
"Ooh! Kanto starters! They're so cute! And they look so happy!" says Diantha, admiring our Pokémon. "I'm a trainer myself, in my off time. I look forward to us battling someday!"
"Me too! It means so much to hear that from you! I've always been such a big fan of yours!" says Serena.
"Oh, please don't. You're embarrassing me," says Diantha as she walks past us and out of the café. She gives us a wave, and then disappears.
"She's really nice," I say, turning to Serena and smiling.
"Yeah! Let's take a seat," replies Serena.
We find a small table for two by the window and take a seat with our Pokémon in our laps.
"I haven't forgotten that you licked me earlier!" says Serena. A great way to start things off.
"Well, you weren't being suffocated by the scent of tropical fruits!" I reply.
Serena laughs and says, "Oh my gosh! I forgot that I put on some lotion earlier."
"You could have just removed your hand from my mouth! It did smell very nice though. Tasted good too,"
"Stop it!" replies Serena, blushing.
"So what did you want to talk about?"
"Well... Eh, I guess... What I wanted to ask was... Would you be willing to compete with me to see which of us will become stronger?" asks Serena.
Compete with Serena? Hm...
"So basically, you want us to be rivals?" I ask.
"Yes," replies Serena. She looks down into her lap, awaiting my answer.
"Sure!" I say confidently.
"Really?!" says Serena, jolting her head up.
"But on one condition," I add. Serena tilts her head in confusion. I've got her right where I want her. "Every time I win, you have to go on a date with me."
" ... " It takes Serena a second to process what I've just said. "What?"
"I'll be your rival, but every time I beat you in a battle, you have to go on a date with me," I repeat.
Serena's face grows a dark shade of red. "Are you serious?!" she asks.
"Of course!" I reply with a laugh. "So, what do you say?"
After thinking for a few moments, she replies with, "Fine! But I don't plan on losing!"
"Me either," I say with seriousness.
"Fine!" says Serena loudly.
"Fine!" I say even louder.
The both of us glare at each other before bursting into a fit of laughter, no longer able to control ourselves. This girl truly is crazy. I'm going to have to work my butt off to be able to beat her. But it's a win win for me though, either she wins and is happy, or I win and we go on a date.
We stay for a while longer, talking about Lysandre, our Pokémon, and what the Professor told us about Mega Evolution. Serena really wants to figure out the key to Mega Evolution. She thinks that it will set her apart as a great trainer, but really I think she has the skills to do it without Mega Evolution.
Serena mentions that Lumiose City has a Gym, and that we can challenge it before we leave for Camphrier Town. With that in mind, we leave the café, but, as we try to leave South Boulevard, a construction worker stops us. He notifies us that the rest of the city is currently without power, and that no one is allowed to pass until they solve the issue.
"Well, I guess we'll have to come back to Lumiose once the powers back up," I say to Serena as we make our to Route 5.
"Yeah... " replies Serena in a sad tone. "It's really annoying that we don't get to wander around the rest of the city though! I wonder what caused such a huge power outage..."
"It definitely wasn't some Rattata chewing on a wire, not if they are keeping people out."
"I'm sure it will get fixed by the time we come back though," says Serena.
We make a quick pit stop at the Pokémon Center before arriving at the entrance to Route 5.
Entering Route 5, I ask, "Are we going to be able to make it to this town by nightfall, or are we camping out tonight?"
"It's about the same length as Route 4, so we should be fine," says Serena.
I turn to look in front of us and notice something quickly coming towards us. I step in front of Serena.
"Calem? What's wrong?" asks Serena. Serena peeks out from behind me. "Oh..."
In front of us stands a Lucario. His eyes are locked on mine. This is a strong Pokémon. I can tell. One wrong move and we might be in trouble.
Suddenly, the Lucario runs around us in a circle, stopping where he started. Still keeping eye contact, he lets out a cry.
Right before I can tell Serena to head back into the city, someone yells, "Wait! Lucario!!"
A girl in a short white and red dress, with matching roller skates and helmet, rolls up next to the Lucario. Her long bright blonde hair is tied up in a ponytail, but she still has hair that flows out of her helmet. To be honest, she is pretty cute. Accompanying the girl is another Lucario.
"Sorry about that! Are you OK? I was doing some special training with my Lucario when all of a sudden it dashed off..." asks the girl.
"Yeah, we're fine! He didn't do anything aggressive," I reply. Serena steps out from behind me.
"Hey, Lucario! What's going on with you? Did you get drawn in by one of their auras or something?" asks the girl. The Lucario looks back at her and speaks again. It then walks up to me.
"Huh. Well, it seems Lucario likes you!" says the girl with a smile. "See, Lucario can read people's auras. I guess something in your aura has made this one take a liking to a stranger! This Lucario is always getting worked up in battle with my other one. Maybe it's just waiting for a Trainer to appear who's strong enough to challenge it... Oops! I was on such a roll, I forgot to even introduce myself! I'm Korrina, the Shalour City Gym Leader."
"Wow! Hi, I'm Serena, and this guy with the alluring aura is Calem. We just started challenging the Kalos Gyms," says Serena, giggling to herself.
"Well, if you're collecting Gym Badges, I'm sure we'll be battling sooner or later! I'm looking forward to it. I hope you know how to roll with the punches!" says Korrina, punching at the air. She then skates off with Lucario by her side. The other Lucario gives me one final stare before following her.
I turn to Serena and ask, "What just happened?"
"I'm not completely sure," she replies.
Serena and I laugh. I'm not sure what that Lucario saw in me, but it was very interested. All I know is that we will definitely meet both her and Diantha again.
