Jayfeather sighed. He's been sorting herbs, or at least, for the love of Starclan, they better be.
The day's almost over, and so far Bramblestar , Dovewing, and Lionblaze haven't returned yet.
There is nothing, nothing, about this place that's even considered normal.
For example, when Jayfeather decided to go with the other medicine cats to search for any familiar herbs, they found nothing, not even a single cobweb. Or, when there had been multiple hunting patrols - in which they're all divided up of each clan - couldn't even catch anything. Oh, for the love of Starclan, they couldn't even scent something as simple as a mouse! Every scent, every 'thing' is different.
So he just snatched a mouthful of differently scented and textured leaves and sorted them into piles, just so maybe they might be of use, hopefully.
He flattened his ears and shut his eyes. This is going nowhere, why is he holding on to false hopes? His closest friends and family are missing, and he's starting to believe that they're dead if they don't come back sooner or later.
The clans haven't settled down yet, but then again, they'll probably be on edge until they get back to their own territories. So far, the closest thing that's probably peaceful around the camp are most of the elders and some junior and senior warriors getting along. But other than that, the clans have separated themselves from each other in easily tight groups.
Mothwing stepped inside the makeshift medicine cat den. "You feeling okay?" She asked with a worried look in her eyes.
He let out another sigh. "At this point, I surprisingly am," He replied.
Mothwing gently nodded in understanding. "I know, I'm worried too. But was there ever a time when they got caught up in a situation like this and they actually died?"
Jayfeather finally let out an amused snort. "When was there ever a time when they didn't get in trouble?"
The two let out amused purrs.
"Honestly, how is it that your leader ends up in a 'death-guaranteed' situation and end up surviving?" Kestrelflight walked in. "If Onestar did any of this, he's lose the rest of his lives in no time! Don't tell him I said that...."
"Oh, he'll figure it out even if we don't tell him." Mothwing commented dryly.
Jayfeather hid back a smirk as he faced outside. A rich, blue and gold sky was slowly melting into a vast orange and red horizon, letting out it's soft evening glow. 'Well, at least some things stay the same.' He closed his eyes and took him the cool evening air and the faint hum of bees, growing louder.
'Wait, bees?!''
"Do you hear that?""Hear what?" Kestrelflight asked, until he heard it too. "Oh."
"Everyone look out!"
Jayfeather heard the sound of Bramblestar hurtling into camp, Dovewing and Lionblaze at his heels. He trotted over them, with the other clan leaders coming up behind them.
"What's going on?" He demanded."Remember the giant bee that you fought earlier? Well, it's coming back, and it brought some friends." Bramblestar replied, panting heavily.
"Friends?" Rowanstar hissed. "What exactly do you mean, friends?! How many?"
It was Dovewing who replied, "Probably about the number of leaves a small tree should have."
"What did you do?!" Onestar growled. "Did you lead those things all the way here?"
