"Seriously?! You'll let me go?" I practically scream.

"For one semester. That one semester will be a test. If you can prove you're better there than here training with me then sure I'll let you go for the next 3 years of high school." My father, Jace, says trying to sound stern.

"THANK YOU!!!!!!! You're amazing!" I say hugging him.

"Remember Cat, I went to high school when I was your age and I hated it." My mom,Clary, says

"I'll try to keep that in mind." I say rolling my eyes.

"And you," my dad says turning to Jared "Are going to go with her. Keep her out of trouble."

"What?! No!! What about training!?"

"Your sister, your LITTLE sister is going to be at a public school where there are boys who might want to... Ugh just listen to me on this one ok? Please? Besides it'll allow you to be a bit more exposed to kids your age. Maybe you'll make some friends?" This seemed like a fair reason for him to go. After all, with the way he acts you'd think that my Uncle Alec had raised him; he was so shy.

"Fine. So which school? Not downtown I hope." Jared says

"Why not downtown?" I ask

"Demons." He says as if it should have been obvious.

"No you'll go to the one your mother went to."

"Jace, that was downtown."

"Really? I thought that it was in Brooklyn."

"No. Also there were no demons when I went so you should be okay."

"Clary, Honey, look, I love you and all but I'm not really going to trust you when you say there were no demons."

"And why not?!" My mom says putting her hands on her hips.

"Clary, you had a block on your mind. Put there specifically to make sure you didn't see those kinds of things. For all we know there could have been ten demons in your damn class and you wouldn't have of known."

"I'm Valentines daughter! Don't you think there might have been just a few demons or clave members who wanted me dead?! If there really were demons there I think they would have been smart enough to know I was there and then try to kill me. Don't you think?" My brother and I hadn't really been included in this part of the conversation so we decided to slowly back out of the room.

"Stay here! We're not done talking about this." My dad says

"You don't have to yell at them."

"I didn't mean to yell but I'm really mad right now that you think you know exactly how safe the school is!"

"I do know how safe it is! If you don't believe me then call Simon! He was there at the school with me!"

"Of coarse he was! You know what? Why don't we just ask Simon for his opinion on everything?!"

"Don't you dare get mad at Simon for being there for me! If you recall he has saved your damn life on more than occasion!"

"STOP IT!" I scream "Why do you two always fight? I'm sick of it! If you're going to get a divorce then get one! At least it'll give everyone's ears a break." Every one in the room just stares at me.

"We're not getting a divorce, Cat." My mom says ,suddenly calm.

"You guys act like it." Jared says defending me.

"No we don't."

"Just last week you guys got in a fight about dinner."

"I- we were tired."

"Sure."

"I'm sorry. You're right we do yell and argue a lot and we need to stop. Okay. We're sorry."

"I'm going to go upstairs and get ready for school tomorrow. Call me down when dinners ready."

"Okay."

"I guess I should go get ready too." Jared says.

"Yeah you should. Oh, don't forget to add a seraph blade. You know just in case." My dad says

"DAD! No."

"I'm just kidding, sweetheart." He laughs
