"Josh! Come on. We're gonna be late!" Cat says pretty much the same thing she's been saying since she woke up. It wasn't true. We had plenty of time. "Josh!" She says again with a huge grin. She is hopping up and down at the front door of the institute. She's waiting for Magnus to arrive and make the portal to take us to Idris. I was not really looking forward to this trip.

It was supposed to be a trip for me to meet my aunt and any other family that may be there. This wasn't a trip that was supposed to be a romantic get away for Cat and me. Don't get me wrong ,id love to get away with Cat; just me and her. That would be paradise.

"Ahh! JOSH , MAGNUS IS HERE!!!!" Cat yells at the top of her lungs. "THIS IS GOING TO BE SO MUCH FUN!"

"Yea, fun..." I say following her out the door with my bag. I was about out the door when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turn to see Cat's dad looking at me with a look. I couldn't quite figure it out. "What?" I say lamely.

"Do you want Cat to go?" Jace says.

"Umm...ja- er...Mr.Lightwood I love Cat but...this was supposed to be me meeting my family. "

"That's what I thought. Well, Clary and I were thinking we would come along and we may be able to distract Cat for a while."

I think about this proposal. It sounds perfect...almost perfect. Cat would hate that. "Cat isn't-"

"I know. She'll listen though and she'll understand. Besides we have family there too. We may see them. Mind if we tag along?" Jace asks.

"Absolutely! Come on." I say walking towards the portal Magnus had conjugated.

I let Jared and Cat's family walk through but her dad stopped. "Go." He says to me.

I fall through the portal and land on on soft grass. We landed right outside of the demon wards. I get up and look around. I see Cat barely able to control her excitement. "Josh look! It's beautiful!"

I had to agree with her. It was beautiful. It was practically like the Emerald City, only not green with yellow sidewalks wondered by munchkins. Jace and clary are standing around staring at Idris adoringly. "Remember, jace?" I hear Clary whisper. "Yea..." jace answers out loud.

'This is my family' I think to my self. And I could see that now. Cat was my family.

Then I see a lady probably in her four-ties. "Josh?" She says looking at me and I smile. "Josh!" She says gawking at me. She runs up to me and hugs me. Then she pulls back and looks me up and down. "Oh. By the angel ,you look just like your mother. You've grown. You were just a baby when I saw you last." She had a slightly British accent. Just then Cat comes up.
"Josh, who's this?" Cat asks.
"This is my aunt. Aunt Karen, this is Cat, my girlfriend."
"Oh." She says. "Well Josh, there is just so much for us to talk about. Oh! And the family! Angel, they'll love seeing you!"

I had to laugh at her enthusiasm. She was so up beat about me being here. She wrapped her arm over my shoulder and walked me toward the wards. I wave to Cat and her parents and they walk away in the other direction. Cat blows me a kiss and I smile.

After we pass the wards my aunt turns to me and says" are you really dating her?"
"Yea." I smile." Cat's family. I love her."
"Josh, family is blood. And she is not blood. Besides, she's a Lightwood is she not?"
"Yea. She is."
"The lightwoods are no friends of ours, Josh. they killed Sebastian Morgenstern even after he was turned back to a shadowhunter."

"But that's not her-"

"Josh! It doesn't matter! Oh, the poor soul,sebastian, killed by his own sister and future brother in law."

"If you would just meet her, if you'd just talk to her, you'd see she's amazing! She is my FAMILY!

"She's not your family Josh. Family is blood. I am your family. "
