ps this means flashbacks
Alania is filled with many different Kingdoms on each of the four continents. Usually each kingdom was a paradise or safe place for those in need. Of course all kingdoms weren't fully safe, there was racism. Dark mages being beat, abused, arrested for being "evil". Hybrids constantly hiding their animal like features for fear of being a freak. But what if you were the only one of your kind, the odd one out. Sometimes a kingdom is just a reminder of all your mistakes.
In the great mountains of the west was a girl who sat by a stream, her blonde hair knotted with dirt in it. Her clothes torn almost as if they were from the trash, holding a spear in her right hand. Her grey eyes, dull like they lost all hope as she watched the water closely. But the one thing that stood out about her was her wings. They were like angel wings so beautiful and bright like they were meant for a goddess. But they were only a burden.
"Mama!Mama!" A small princess only six with her blonde hair flowing in the wind and her grey eyes full of joy. "What is it my little bundle of joy." Her mother asks as she picks her up and spins her around. "Teach me about my magic again!" The princess asks laughing. "Okay, but only while Daddy finishes paperwork." The mother says putting her child down. They both walk into the castle courtyard as the mother leans against a railing watching her daughter. "Explain it again mommy!" "Ok but just for you. Your magic is the magic of wind. You're able to control the winds and even listen to it. And once you're old enough I'll give you this amulet that will help control your gift." The mother says holding out a beautiful white amulet. The small princess stares at it glory, she was captivated by it. "I promise I will be the best mage ever for you mama!" The girl said with joy. "Heh, I know you will."
A splash is heard as the blonde throws the spear into the water. she picks the spear up to reveal a fish stabbed to the end of the spear's tip. She looks at the fish with her dull eyes a small smirk appears on her face. "Least I got some dinner." She says as the wind blows moving her long hair in its direction. She looks into the sky and closes her eyes as if she was listening. "I should head back." She puts the fish into a bag wrapped around her waist and starts walking towards the mountains. All the while making sure of her surroundings, you could never be too careful.
"MAMA!" The young princess yelled running through the kingdom. Flames roared through the streets as smoke and ash filled the colorful sky now turning it grey and black. The girl coughed as ash filled her lungs but she still ran with all her might. Until she came into the center of her kingdom where a great fountain once stood, but was covered with the blood of her citizens as their bodies laid lifeless on the ground. She stood there in shock with her eyes widen as tears filled her eyes. She wanted everything to stop. That's when a great gust of wind came the girl's hair flew in her wind as her tears stopped. She started to run again, with even more determination to get out. As if a voice had given her one last reason to live. The princess ran down the only exit tunnel, she thought that it was crowded and full but not a soul was there. She ran and kept running until she was greeted with the night sky. Turning around she saw smoke escaping some parts of the mountain. Tears swam down her face as she fell down on her names her sobs getting louder every second. No one else survived that fire.
The girl woke up the next morning still shocked about the whole event that occurred. A gust of wind blew again towards her and the girl turned her head towards the tunnel. She walked back into the kingdom to find everything destroyed. The fire was out but all that remained was ash and ruins. She looked around until she found something shinning from the light that hit it. Digging it up she got a closer look, it was the amulet that her mother always held on to. She picked it up wiped the dirt of it, and places it around her neck. That's when a striking pain reached all over her body. She held her head as the wind began to move faster around her. A glow surrounded her back and in a split second a small pair of wind appeared attached to her. She looked at what happened to her. She started to freak out but calmed down when another gust of wind blew. Her eyes widen again, as she looked at her hands as she put her face in them crying. "What am I?"
Heading towards the top of the mountain the girl stopped on the trail she saw an open area, a place she remembered very well. She grunted walking a bit faster.
The young girl went off in search of food and shelter. Heading down the mountain she head some kids playing. She hid herself behind a bush a peeked out to see what the were doing. The kids were having a picnic and playing a few games in an open area. "Excuse me?" She asked shyly still behind the bush. One of the kids turned around to see who said that, as the started to get closer she saw that they were fairies. Their bug like wings glowed in the daylight. "Hey are you ok?" One kid said noticing the girl was covered in dirt. She stepped out into the light until she heard screaming. "Look at her wings!" One of them screamed in terror. "What are you." They said backing up away from her. "N-no it's ok I won't hurt you-" The girl was cut off when a rock hit her head. She fell back on the butt, lifting a hand to her head she saw she was bleeding. "Get away from us you freak!" The kids said throwing more rocks at her. She quickly got up and ran away.
The girl was almost to the top when she heard some noise coming from the trail close to her. She used her wings to fly up to a high branch to get a better view. That's when she saw a merchants wagon, the merchant was sitting next to his wagon drinking some water while opening a bag of food. The girl smirked as she took this as a perfect opportunity. She moved her hand in a swift motion as a small burst of wind knocked down something near the merchant. The merchant got up to check what happened and in a split second she flew down grabbed the food and flew away into the mountains.
"ugh. another day." She said to herself. "I bet things will get better Jade." A small blue bird said landing on a large rock. "I hope that's true." She replied looking at the sun starting to set.
"Strength grows in the moments you think you can't go on but you keep going anyway"
