Incoming Voice Call from @DancingMachineChen!

"Dude."

There was a silence on the other end, as if he didn't know what to say.

"Okay, if you're gonna call say something."

The girl on the receiving (or maybe not receiving, for she wasn't being given anything) end seemed annoyed.

"Hey..."

"Hey."

"I- uh..."

There was a silence, broken by an annoyed sigh.

"I really appreciate you trying to cheer me up or whatever you're trying to do, but it's not gonna work. I'm just gonna enjoy my night laying here if that's okay with you."

"Wait-"

"What?" the girl snapped.

"Sorry."

"...About what?"

"Not being able to help."

"That's not your fault. It's my fault for not being able to help myself."

"But I could help, it's just I can't."

"What do you... nevermind. That's okay."

"I just can't bring myself to do it. I'm sorry."

There was an obvious voice crack in the middle of the apology.

"Hey, it's okay... I don't really understand what you mean but don't worry about it."

The girl easily picked up on theaudible cues, sitting up on her bed.

"Chen?"

The other breathed out a clear curse, sucking in a breath.

"Chen, are you okay?"

Suddenly the focus changed to the boy's problem, whatever that was bothering her in the beginning was now 2nd priority.

"Chen, talk to me."

Some undecipherable mumbles came from the other end, and the girl clicked up the volume a few clicks.

"A little clearer please."

There was a simple groan, then probably the speaker moving around wherever he was.

"Chen, I can't help you if you keep making incoherent noises. Take a deep breath."

Instead of a deep breath, there was a shortness of breath and very small, quick inhales.

"Just one. A deep breath."

"But..."

"Here. You don't have to talk about it, just stay on the line."

The girl looked from the dark window to the empty hallway outside her room, then back at the phone as it made a little sniffle. She reached over for the pillow that laid next to her, wrapping her arms around it and resting her head on top. She found herself staring out the window to her right.

"Don't worry, everything's going to be okay."
