"What took you so long?" Chen asked, hoping into the drivers seat of her car. Cami made a little gasp as she sat down in the passenger seat.
"I got here... as fast... as I could..." she heaved, throwing her back pack into the back seat. She leaned back in the chair, turning the air conditioning fan towards herself. "Mrs. Mac's room is, like, all the way on the other side of the school."
"Alright," Chen laughed, cranking the shift and slowly backing out of the parking lot. "Let's try to get to the fanmeet though."
"Yes! Of course!" Cami shouted, eyes lighting up. "OhmygoshSehunfreaking ahhh!"
Chen was so used to her loud screaming and excitement that it didn't startle her when her friend started throwing a happy-tantrum a foot beside her. Her careful driving didn't falter, and it only scared her when Cami dropped her phone with a small "clank".
"I really, really hope we can make it to the fansign! I brought some of their albums and the picture cards and..." Cami listed on, taking a pause after a few more items.
"Lightsticks?"
"Yeah! I brought those too. I've got an EXO hoodie if you want to wear that too." Cami said, gesturing towards the back seat. Chen pointed at the necklace around her neck when they stopped at the traffic light.
"I've got this, so I think I'm okay." Chen smiled, stepping on the gas a few seconds later.
"I've got two~" Cami cooed, poking Chen's right arm.
"Alright, alright," she laughed, leaning away from her attacker, "Don't make me crash the car."
"Right. Please don't - then we won't get to the fanmeet on time," Cami nodded, sitting straight in her seat.
"Hah, that's what you're worried about, huh?"
"Priorities."
A few minutes passed and they finally got on the highway, Cami pulling up the directions on her phone. "Thirty-seven miles on this highway until exit 309."
"Seems legit." Chen replied dismissively, being more focused on successfully changing lanes.
"Do you want to pick some dinner up before we get there?" Cami asked, scrolling on her phone. She lifted it up and turned it towards Chen, beginning to list off fast food restaurants.
"I feel like being unhealthy and getting fries, you?" Chen replied after her friend had named a few burger places.
"Burgers are fine with me." Cami replied, let me find the closest one that won't make us late.
It had probably been ten minutes (and ten whole miles) before Cami began talking again.
"According to my calculations, and according to the radio's traffic report of 4 minutes ago, if you take exit 286 and then take a right there's a group of fast food chains in the area." she explained. It seemed simple enough, and Chen glanced at the nearest exit, reading 284. She opened her mouth to comment, only to be matched with more information.
"Apparently Burger King is really busy now, at least according to Google review averages... but apparently their drive through is better than McDonald's. I mean, Donatha says that they got her order wrong two months ago-"
"Okay, okay. It's your call. If you want we can just run in and get it to go." Chen sighed, moving over a lane as 286 approached. She clicked on the turn signal, leaning forwards a bit to see around Cami who blocked the right mirror. Chen made a little gesture to get her to move, following her friend's directions.
"I'm gonna run in and get us something. What do you want?" Cami said, already unbuckling before they had turned into the restaurant's parking lot.
"Grab something simple. Or... yeah just get me a chicken sandwich. Sprite would be nice, and grab us some extra large fries - I feel like snacking." Chen replied quickly, handing her friend a twenty dollar bill from a little drawer in between their seats. Chen dropped off Cami right at the door, then pulling into a nearby parking spot. She pulled out her phone, opening second most recent chat.
