There was a little sniffle and a timid laugh.
"You sound like my mom."
Then a shared, yet careful laughter.
"Am I not?"
"Well..."
"I feel rejected."
"Aw..."
And quickly the troubles seemed to fade.
"Agh! Why is Chen so beautiful?!"
"S-sorry?"
"This is what happens when you're home alone scrolling through Tumblr. Why is this my life?"
"Ahaha..."
"Don't laugh, we all know you're stuck in this position too."
"Am not..."
"Are too."
"Am not-"
"If I turned on your PC right now what would I see?"
"A screen prompting you to enter a password, Chen."
"Alright but like after I log in."
"You wouldn't, because I'd get my computer back before that would happen."
"Okay, hypothetically,"
"Hypothetically, I'd probably attack anyone touching my computer."
"Ha, alright, fair enough."
There was a silence, interrupted by a loud voice.
"Hyung, we've got practice in 10 minutes, what are you do-"
"Wai, wait..." Chen scrambled, shuffling something against the microphone of the phone. "I'll be ready in like 2 minutes."
"Sorry, sorry..." the previously loud and striking voice apologized, now soft and delicate. There was a soft click of a door closing.
"I've gotta go, I'm sorry."
"That's fine, you alright?"
"Yeah, yeah, just a moment of realization that bothered me. You know those types of things, right?"
"Of course, same on my end."
There was another silence.
"Where do you have to go at this hour?"
"You do sound like my mom."
There was some sort of shuffle in the background.
"But I've gotta go do some work stuff today. A meeting of sorts."
"Alright Mr. Businessman."
"Chen! Get your legs moving faster!" A different voice shouted.
"I'm working on it!" Chen shouted back.
"I'm coming in-" The voice called, suddenly interupted.
"I'm changing, give me a second!"
"Nice excuse."
"Hah, it's not an excuse." Chen whispered. "I'ma hang up before they barge in. Talk to later?"
"Yeah, sure."
