"This has got to be some freakin joke!" Quinn says as we look at where Charles body used to be.
"No this isn't a joke. Get used to it because the shocking things are just getting started. Welcome to Magnum Terram!" I say.
"Are we sure this is where his body was?" Donna asks.
I point to the carving in the tree that says Noose. "Yes because this is here!"
"Then where could the freakin body have gone?" Carley asked.
"The same person that killed him probably took him down too." I say.
"My bets are on Quinn." Says Albert.
"Excuse me? You think I did this?" Quinn responds back.
"I mean you were the one who wanted to do that toast last night which ended up drugging all of us. Plus you just now disappeared while we were walking around the house. You were probably taking the body down."
"He was with me the whole time!" Marley puts in.
"Well maybe your in on it too" Albert says.
"Well Jennifer looks more suspicious than us!" Marley says. "She was with him all night. Her crazy drunk ass probably killed him!"
"Are you freakin kidding me?!" Jennifer says. I stand there as everyone starts to argue and accuse each other and I get ready to start yelling at everyone to shut up. But I notice something.
I hear a strange buzzing noise that is getting louder and louder. I look over my shoulder and see a dark cloud coming toward us. But as it gets closer I soon find out that it's not a cloud. It's some kind of swarm if bugs.
"Well this is something new." I say. "RUN!"
Everyone stops arguing and looks at me like I'm crazy. But when they notice the stampede of bugs, they follow me as I sprint through the woods.
I wouldn't usually be this afraid of just some random bugs but there are so many of them that it look like one solid wall of darkness. As I look back and get a closer look, I realize just how big they are. They are about the size of two of my fingers.
They swarm after us and we run fast. They swallow up everything behind us. So much so that I can barely see the trees behind us that we had just passed.
We are fast but these bugs are faster. I hear screams from Marley and Megan as these bugs jump and fly onto them. These bugs seem to be some type of locust. But not just any type of locusts because as one jumps on me I feel their legs hinge into me like a fish hook and I scream from the stinging pinch I feel.
More attach to my legs and I fall to my knees. The pain is searing and I try to swat them off with my hands. But the swarm catches up to me and I am surrounded.
I can't breath because I'm too scared that if I open my mouth they'll fly down my throat. But I feel them every where else on my body. There sharp little legs hooking into every inch of skin. I can't hold it in any longer and let out a big scream. I was right cause right as I open my mouth one tries to fly in, and I spit so hard that it feels like my lungs came out with it.
I wiggle and fling myself across the ground trying to get these terrifying locusts off of me. But they never stop. I feel their silky wings flap across my face and I just try not to open my eyes.
I've lost track of time and don't know how long these awful bugs have been torturing me. But all of a sudden I feel a hand grab mine and I'm very aggressively pulled up and I start running again with whoever just saved me.
I finally feel some relief as we break through the swarm and start getting farther away from it. This time the bugs don't seem to be following us.
I look around and see everyone else running ahead of us. I still clutch someone's hand and I realize it's Carley.
Donna and Jackson stop and lean against a tree. I stop and look at them.
"What are you doing? They are right there and could decide to come over here any second so we need to keep running!"
"I can't move though." Donna says. I look at her arms and they are full of red bumps. I look at myself and see the same thing.
"Listen I know it hurts and I know that most of us are hungover, but we can't stop! This isn't some research trip anymore! This is Magnum Terram so get up and let's go!" I yell.
I start to run again and just as I had suspected the swarm of bugs chases after us. There's no escaping them unless we keep running. The running brings back bad memories from the last time we were here. I don't stop though cause I don't want to be suffocated by these locusts.
"Over here!" I hear someone yell. I look and see Albert pointing to a cave. A beautiful rock formation with a small opening. We all squeeze through this hole and huddle in the nice small cozy cave.
"Quick! Help with this boulder!" Jackson yells as the buzzing of the locusts gets louder and they get closer. We all join together to pick up the heavy boulder. We place it in the hole that we all just climbed through and we push it into place. The boulder seems to be just right and seems to click in the hole. We are now enclosed in the cave, safe from the bugs.
I quickly sit down in the cold bumpy stone ground. It feels so good on the bumps that the locusts had given us.
"What the hell!" Jackson screams.
"I told you that this isn't your typical research trip anymore. I tried to warn you that this place was full of treacherous things and you didn't listen!" Right as I say this a loud boom sounds from outside.
"Was that thunder?" Megan asks. Slowly but surely the locusts noise gets quieter and a new noise is replaced by it. The pitter-patter of rain.
"There's a storm! That means that the bugs are probably gone because of the water. Let's go back out!" Albert says trying to pull the boulder that we had just placed. But the boulder won't budge.
"I can't do it. It's stuck" he says.
"Okay no worries. We can just push it through instead." I use both hands and push as hard as I can but the boulder does not move. We're stuck. Trapped.
And if I thought things couldn't get worse, boy I was wrong because the soft pitter-patter of the rain turns to hard bullets that flow down from the sky. It's just not raining now, it's pouring. Rain starts to push it's way through the cracks in the rocks and the small cave that we are all stuck in begins to fill with water.
