Chapter Ten - Broken Hearts

*Two Days Later!*
(Adela's POV!)
I sat in bed looking at the sunrise. I put my knees up to my chest and let tears stroll down my face. I looked down at my phone and saw 20 missed calls from Gerald and 30 unread text messages. I still couldn't believe this was happening to me. I heard a light knock on my door. Marlene peeked her head inside.

"Hey. You okay?" She asked me as she walked in.

"Not really." I quietly replied.

She came over and sat down on my bed.

"You can tell me what you're feeling Adela." She said as she looked at me.

I couldn't hold it in anymore. Tears started to roll down my face. Marlene quickly gave me a hug and held me. I hugged her for what felt forever. I needed this. I felt so lost.

"I don't know what happened. He was with another girl. I saw him in bed with her. I don't know what I did wrong?" I said as I cried.

She let go of me and then looked at me.

"You didn't do anything Adela. He's the one who fucked up. Look at you. You shouldn't be going through this. You're a amazing ass woman. You didn't do anything." She said as she looked at me.

"I don't know what to do. I'm really hurting." I told her as I looked down.

"He's a asshole. What's wrong with him. Adela you're going to be fine. It hurts now, but you'll be fine." She calmly explained to me.

I held onto my pillow and cried even more.

"I love him Marlene." I said through my tears.

Right when I said that it seemed like Marlene hoped I wouldn't have said that.

"Shit. You don't fall in love so easily. I remember the last guy you dated him for a year and a half and when you two split it was just another day for you." She said.

"I don't know. Gerald is different. I really do love him Marlene. I'm just realizing that now. I feel like my heart is shattered." I explained to her.

"I know Adela. You just have to start living your life again. Go see your parents today. Go relax." Marlene told me.

She was right. I just have to distract myself. I just nodded and she hugged me again. She told me she was going to work and that she would be home later. I just got up and took a shower. I let my hair air dry and I didn't bother putting any makeup on. I changed and quickly ran downstairs and got in my car. I haven't seen my family in a while and seeing them will make me feel better. I didn't want to tell them about Gerald. I just wanted to go catch up with them.

I drove to my parents house and went inside.

"Hello?" I said as I walked in.

"Adela?" I heard my mom call out from the kitchen.

I walked into the kitchen and saw all my family sitting at the table eating breakfast. Angel, Ashley, my dad, mom, and Angel's best friend, David were here.

"Hey guys." I told everyone smiling.

"Hey! What a surprise sweetie! Sit down and eat." My mom told me as she hugged me.

"I actually ate already mom, but thanks." I told her.

I'm pretty sure I haven't had a decent meal in two days. I haven't had a appetite. I sat down and started talking to everyone.

"Where's Gerald?" Angel asked me.

My heart skipped a beat a little but I took a deep breath.

"Um he's in LA, working." I just calmly replied.
