The 1920's

Jazz took center stage

And made its jazzy beats

All people, the young and old,

Danced with joy on their feet.

Money was flying

Like great birds in the air.

From New York to Minnesota,

It was theirs to share.

The white people sneered at Negros

As the Negro culture steady grew

Thanks to all the black people

But don't forget Langston Hughes.

Sights of the Great War

Still so fresh in mind.

The young people said,

"Hey, let's all have a good time!"

Romance made its last appearance

In American history

Followed by an era

Of perputal misery.
