Team Quill

Here we go, Vulpix! (Chapter seven of Team Quill)

Marshtomp and Bayleef followed the three trainers closely.  They were heading into the Forest again. Evelyn was talking to Ty about the population about..Somthing. Abigail was  resting her Vulpix against her chest. Vulpix was fast asleep, blowing out small puffs of smoke as he did.

  Vulpix suddenly jolted awake, leaping from Abigails arms. Abigail stumbled back, shocked, and Evelyn and Ty caught her.

   "Vvvulllpiiixxxxx!" Rift called, in a defencinve pose. Abigail stood, worried. A low chuckle came from the undergrowth, and The three trainers stiffened. Out stepped a male, his hair cropped below his ears. He was wearing black and red, with his Pokeballs clipped to his belt.

   "Looks like your little pet is just Itching for a fight. Alright. What do you say, blonde?" The male pointed at Abigail. She gritted her teeth.

  "Its Abigail. Sure, I'll battle you!" Ty and Evelyn placed their hand on their pokeballs.

The male picked out a Pokeball, a black thunderbolt etched into it.

"Blitzle, go!" He tossed it into the ground. The Electric pokemon flew out.

  "Lets give them an Electrifying  show, Blitzle!" Static rippled through the electric Pokemon.

  "All right. one on one, kind sir. Vulpix go! " Vulpix growled at the Pokemon, fire flaming in his eyes.

   "Blitlze, use Shock wave!" The trainer shouted to his pokemon. Electicity shot from the Pokemon, heading directly at Vulpix.

  "Vulpix, Dodge, then use Ember!" The Vulpix stood still, facing the attack. It was about two inches, before her lept, spinning, fire exploded from his mouth, hitting Blitzle in a full-on hit. But, it seemed to do nothing on Blitzle.

   "Wha...Okay, we got this! " Abigail whispered shakily.

Blitzle let out an alarming call, and started running full speed at Vulpix. The trainer hadn't even called a move! What was Blitzle doing?

"You must trust the instinct of your Pokemon, Blonde." The trainer sneered.Abigail clentched her jaw.

  "...Vulpix, we can do this!" She called, her Pokemon looked back, and nodded. Abigail pulled her hat tighter to her head, and pointed.

  "Lets show 'em what we can do!" She said. "Quick attack, then Fire Spin!" Vulpix let out a screech, running at the Pokemon. It dodged to the side, then lept to the left. Fire flared out around Vulpix, and it spun in a circle. Blitzle was unprepared for this attack, and wobbled slightly.

  "Blitzle, lets finish these pipsqeaks off! Use Thunderwave! Give it your all!" Blitzle's body went up in static, and again electricity shot from the small Pokemon. Abigail narrowed her eyes, glancing back at her friends. They nodded, having faith in her.

   "Rift, use yout instinct!" She said, turning back quickly. Rift dodged the attack, leaping over it. Her Vulpix's body flared up, and he crouched.  A wave of fire crashed up, and Vulpix's eyes turned a light blue. The flames crackled at the sky, before diving for the electric Pokemon.

Is that his hidden move? Abigail smiled. But Blitzle lept to the side, quick attacking her Pokemon.

  "Abigail-- You can evolve your Pokemon in battles. Take this--" Ty thrusted a stone at her.

The fire stone. Vulpix looked back at her. Time seemed to stop. Sh..Should I.. Evolve you, Rift..? Abigail gripped the stone tightly. Vulpix looked to her, and nodded, a silent agreement.

  "One last move, Rift! Lets do this, Confusion ray!" Abigail called bravely.

"Hmph. Blitzle, Thunderwave again!" He called. The wave of electricity bounced for Rift. Rift  slid to the side, his eyes again glowing the odd blue.

We can do this!  Blitzle stopped, and stayed still, her eyes confused.

"Ember!" He waves of flane hit the Pokemon, snappin it back into reality.

Blitzle used quick attack, knocking Vulpix back. She loosened her grip on the stone, and tossed it to Vulpix. A faint light began to glow around the Pokemon. It grew brighter, and the trainers no longer saw Vulpix, but Ninetails.

"All right! Give Blitzle a final hit, Ninetails! Use  ember!" A stronger flame lapped at Blitzle. The Pokemon let out a small cry, and crumbled down. Ninetails wrapped his tails calmly over his paws. He gave a sly glance at his trainer.

  "Blitzle, return." The trainer said softly. His Pokemon faded back ito the ball.

"That was a good fight, Blonde. You are obviously strong to defeat a Gym leader." He said slyly. Abigail raised an eye row, walking up to Ninetails.

"Your a gym leader then? Hm." Abigails eyes widened as the male moved gracefully over to her. A small white badge was in his palm.

"Yes, I am. Since you beat me, take the Feather badge." She took the badge greatfully, still confused. The male left, leaving the three startled and confused. She turned back to her friends, and suprised to find that they looked Angry.

  "Erh--Guys, whats wrong..?" She said quietly. Ninetails brushed against her sholder, letting out a small grunt.

  "We had an agreement! Had the Feather badge over!" Ty said through gritted teeth.

  "I didn't know it was a gym leader! And I earned it!" Abigail retorted, clentching her fists. Evelyn snorted, stepping up to Abigail.

"I've double battle you for it!" She yelped.

Abigail threw her Pokeball for the center, Leafeon and Ninetails. Evelyn choose her Marshtomp and Weedle. Abigail felt her eyes tear up, but she only stared at Marshtomp.

  "Ninetails, Ember! Leafeon use absorb!"  Ninetails and Leafeon lept together, spinning. Ninetails tail started giving off heat, while Leafeons eyes grew a bright green. The fire burst from Ninetails, and Leafeon gave off orbs of green energy.

  Evelyn yelped, poining at the two Pokemon.

"Marshtomp, we..We..Got this.." Evelyn began crying, tears leaking down her face. Abigail was crying too.

  "Leafeon, Ninetails, Wait..." She yelped. Her Pokemon stopped. Ty was already hugging Evelyn. Abigail ran forward, hugging them both.

  "I..I'm sorry.." She whispered.
