Abigail tried to keep her breath steady. Ty's eyes were red from crying, along with Evelyn's. Ninetails and Leafeon stood, infront of Marshtomp and Weedle. Ninetails dipped his head, nudging Marshtomp. Weedle crawled up to Leafeon, letting out a small noise. Leafeon purred, crouching down. Abigail turned to the Pokemon, and let out a small choking noise. Ty rested his hand on her sholder, and blinked.
"Our Pokemon are friends. They always have been." Abigail whispered, shrugging Ty away. "But..I..I don't think we all will be." She whiped her nose with the back of her hand. She turned back to the trainers. Evelyn was shaking. Ty blinked, clentching his Pokeball in his palm.
"I think we need to part ways." Evelyn spoke at last. Her Pokemon let out tiny wails, leaping beside Leafeon and Ninetails. Ninetails blinked, covering Marshtomp with his tail. Leafeon crouched over Weedle. Abigail blinked, walking over to the Pokemon. She crouched over, petting Ninetails, then hugging him.
"Rift..I'm sorry.." She wrapped her arms around his neck, sobbing. Her hat fell to the floor, but she didn't care. She didn't care about anything anymore.
Abigail rested her chin on Rift's head as he padded along the forest. She didn't know where he was going, oe where she was going. Ty and Evelyn had left her alone. Her eyes were red from crying.
"Don't leave me! I..I'm sorry!" She screamed after them. She sunk to her knees, watching her best friends go. Rift crouched down next to her, nudging her onto his back. Tears streamed down her face as Rift took off running in the other direction.
Abigail pushed her glasses up on her face. She needed to stop shuffling around like an idiot. She was a Pokemon trainer! She slid off Rift's back, and trotted up ahead. She suddenly spotted a Pokemon. Pulling out her Pokedex, it read "Riolu, a fighting type Pokemon."
"All right, here we go!" Abigail yelped, "Go Leafeon!" Leafeon lept from her ball, crouching down. "Use Quick attack, then Magical Leaf!" Leafeon nodded, diving behind Riolu, shiny leaves flying from her tail. It hit Riolu, hard. The Pokemon collasped, but slowly got back up. Riolu turned, And raised it palm. It knocked Leafeon in the nose, sending her back. Leafeon yelped.
"Instinct! Go for you instinct!" Leafeon nodded, leaping over Riolu and pushing him. Riolu fell, and the Pokeball flew from her hand. The ball wobbled around, then it stopped.
Abigail squealed, leaping up and down. She scooped up her Leafeon and the Pokeball.
"We did it!" She yelped, Leafeon purred.
The sky was dark as Abigail made her way along the path with Rift following her. Tears stung her ees, and she trudged on. Finally, she couldn't take it anymore. She sunk to her knees, her sides heaving. Tears leaked from her eyes. Ninetail gently nudged her, but she never answered.
"I'm sorry." She murmured at last.
