I stand quietly on the observation deck of the Eiffel Tower admiring the light blue skies and the odd stillness in the air apart from the occasional squawking from a bird. The person stands next to me equally quiet, their hand just next to mine."Isn't it amazing?" I say quietly, awaiting an answer. But they don't reply. I grab their hand and squeeze it.
"Isn't it amazing?" I repeat a little forcedly. The hand pulls away from me, as does the person.
"Are you alright?" I ask the person. They slowly turn around to face me. I look up at the face, almost frozen as I stare into the cold eyes.
"Eloise?" I say, stepping backwards.
The sun begins to set all of a sudden like a movie on fast forward and the sky gradually darkens, shadows casting out everywhere. She smiles with a menace and stares right into my eyes, coming forward. I try to blink, but my eyes are forced wide open by invisible forces. Her face changes so that Sophie’s is leering at me with a mixture of malice and pity. She also stares right into my eyes and I grip the railing behind me. The face keeps changing, into my parents, everyone at my old school, Oscar. The face stops right there as their hand is reaching out. I move out of the way and the person follows me with their gaze.
"Oscar?" I ask. He doesn't move so I approach him. I reach out for his face but to my horror, my fingers brush over his cheek and right through as though it was mist. His bright eyes stares into my own, as all the faces did, as though he is reading my soul.
"Sorry?" The person says. It was Oscar’s voice, but it sounded disconnected. I don't answer as I stare at the face and at my hand. The eyes flicker and become cool and empty. He slowly backs away, the whole of his body starting to fade. They turn around and flee down the stairs behind them. The sky suddenly surpasses the clear dark blue behind me, switching off like a light switch into pitch black. Even the moon is covered by clouds and the stars are all missing. I force my feet to move and follow after him down the staircase. I run for what seems forever, the blood pumping through my veins. I finally slow and stop, finally admitting defeat.
"OSCAR!" I shout desperately, leaning over one of the banisters when I couldn't go any further. I see his flickering shadow below.
"OSCAR!" I yell. His shadow stops below me. All I can hear is his and my breathing, heavy after the running.
"Oscar. Whats wrong?" I ask into the darkness. I can't see his face but I hear some slow footsteps climbing up the staircase. I look around trying to catch him. Then I see a pair of eyes looking at me; to my relief they were hazel.
"Who are you?" His familiar voice carries up to me and my heart stops.
"Who are you?" He repeats. "Who are you?" His eyes start flickering and changing colour.
"It's me Oscar! Delilah!" I say going down the staircase my heart in my throat. His footsteps stop all of a sudden.
"Delilah. Delilah, Delilah, Delilah.... Who are you?"
A faint shadow suddenly looms in front of me with large eyes before turning around and running down the stairs clattering them. The darkness closes in around me as I sink down onto one of the steps, tears running down my face.
"OSCAR!" I scream.

"DELILAH,"
My eyes fly open and I look around with wet eyes.
"Delilah. Are you alright?" Amelia stares at me from across the table, her face laced with concern. I shift into an upwards position, the whole of my left side aching. I pull away tangled earphones that echo a finished playlist and rub my eyes, trying to disguise the sudden tears. Amelia holds out a bottle of water.
"Thanks." I say, taking it and drinking in large gulps. The image of Oscar in my mind was so vividly clear that I struggle to blink it away…The coldness and confusion he said those words..... I never wanted to experience again.
"Are you alright?"I hand back the water.
"Yeah. Bad dream that's all." I mutter. My name rings in my ears.
