Daryl had never brought anyone flowers before, but when he saw the smile on Michonnes face after Rick gave her flowers, he decided he could give it a try. He didn't want to see his girl sad, he wanted to see a smile on her face.

Later that evening when Daryl returned home from work, he found her sat on the couch, reading one of the celebrity gossip magazines. He watched as she made faces as she read, her eyes squinting and her lips moving along as she read the words.

She looked beautiful laying there, her copper hair fanned out across the pillow, her cheeks blushing red from the warmth of the room.

"Hey," Daryl said quietly, making his presence known.

She jumped and sat up. "Sorry, I hadn't heard you come in," she muttered as she placed the magazine down on the coffee table. He hoped she would give him a smile, but he received nothing.

"I've got something for you," Daryl announced as he sat down on the couch beside her, holding the bouquet of assorted colourful flowers in his hands.

He watched her face closely. "You bought me flowers?" She asked.

"Y-yeah, do you like them?" He asked nervously.

She nodded, a slight smile on her lips. "Yeah, they're beautiful. Thank you," she whispered. "You didn't have too."

"I know, but I wanted to see you smile. Rick gave Michonne flowers and she smiled."

She looked at him briefly and back at the flowers. "I love them, I do, but I don't need flowers to make me smile. I just need you, by my side."

Daryl looked at her, placing his hand on her cheek and running his thumb over her bottom lip before leaning in to kiss her.

She pulled back and opened her eyes, gazing into his own while smiling lovingly at him.

"I love you, Daryl. I'm sorry for being so grumpy recently," she apologised.

He pulled her closer to him. "Don't apologise. I love you too."
