"But when I'm cold, cold
When I'm cold, cold
There's a light that you give me when I'm in shadow
There's a feeling you give me, an Everglow"

Matthew was surprised when he awoke from his slumber. He did not expect himself to sleep especially in an environment like the bathroom. He sat up and looked at his watch.

'3:43am'

Matthew sighed. It was late and dark, he was afraid of going out alone at this time of night, but he was taught to always stand up to his fears and so he planned on doing just that.

He hoped his family members outside were gone. He did not want to explain what he was going through to them. He crawled to the door and pressed his ear against the door, hearing no noise. He stood up and unlocked the bathroom door as quietly as he could just in case they were still there. When he opened the door, he felt a cool breeze blow past him. It was cold. All he had was his hoodie he was wearing. If he knew he would leave this late, he would've brought a heavier jacket with him. He walked out of the bathroom and scanned the hallway to see if his family was still there. To his surprise, they were gone. What did he expect at three in the morning?

Despite him being cold, he walked down the hall to the exit. The only source of light being the full moon right outside the large window at the end of the hall. He smiled as the full moon reminded him of something. Their first kiss. It was under the stars and a full moon. It gave him a warm feeling when he thought about it. So much that the cold didn't bother him anymore. Nothing did. The memories made him forget everything. Even when he is struggling or going through tough times, those memories help him get through the day with ease, but at the end of the day he is brought back to reality. A reality in which Gilbert was gone.
