Eight's POV
"Come on droid." I said as Grand Admiral Tekara left the little droid with one last threat and walked away.
"Come on C1-10P." I said again and the droid grumbled protest of leaving his friends.
"I'm sorry droid, but this is my duty." I said.
The droid grumbled again.
"Sorry, Chopper, Chopper." I said. "So that is what they call you?" I asked Chopper.
The droid called Chopper beeped.
"Of course I understand you, Chop." I said beneath my helmet. "I used to repair droids on my home planet before going the Empire, so I know the basic forms of droid communication. Now, be quiet I don't what to get in trouble with the Admiral again." I continued.
He beeped again.
"What do you mean you have dirt on Tekara?" I asked, intrigued. "Hang on, I'll get us to a safe spot to talk." I whispered as a few troopers walked passed giving me odd looks.
We walked in silence and otherwise the droid agreed to follow.
I got up onto a storage room for helmets and guns and Chopper followed. I looked around for passing troops and locked the door.
"So?" I said. "Spill." And sat down on a crate.
He grumbled.
"Come on, please, I'll give you an oil bath." I told the droid.
Chopper beeped some more.
"That's all you're getting, Chop. I'm not freeing your friends or letting you go I'm risking enough just by being in here." I said thinking maybe I should just shut him off. "You better talk or you'll get nothing and I can just search your memory for whatever it is."
He beeped and muttered some more.
"Language! I didn't even know half those words exist." I laughed and smiled. "So you're going to tell me."
He grumbled a "ok"
"Yes, now start talking." I said and he began to tell me about Tekara or as he remembers him as Ezra, how he grew up on Lothal, found the crew, a Jedi named Kana trained him as a Jedi, how he was captured , how somehow they wiped his memories, how they turned him and finally how he killed Kanan.
"Wow!" I said. "Wow, I heard of technology like that, they use it on the best troops who disobey."
Chopper muttered some hopeful tones.
"I'm sorry to tell you Chop, there is no way to undo it." I told the disappointed droid. "Come on, I'll take you to the repair bay."
I could see the droid eyeing the guns around us like he was about to make a move, but he followed me out of the room without protest and we walked to the repair bay without further intrusions.
"Hey Eights!" My friend Circuits said as we walked into the repair bay.
"Hey to you to!" I replied.
"What do you need?" He asked me.
"Well I kind of promised this droid a oil bath before he gets his memory search for the Admiral." I told him.
"You only you Eights, would promise a prisoner a nice bath. Oh well come on." Circuits said as he walked over to the oil bath station.
"Come on Chopper." I told the droid as he followed me to the oil bath station.
"You gave him a name." Circuits laughed as he set up the oil bath.
"No his old owner used to call him that." I informed him.
"You got to be more careful Eights, we don't want to get in trouble again." He told me as he picked up Chopper and lowered him into the bath.
"I'm already in for it as it is after what happened to Slap." I said and looked at the floor.
"We all heard that story by now but I would like to get it confirmed. Is it true he used the force?" He said as Chopper started to soak in the oil bath.
"Yep, Tekara killed him without laying a single finger on him." I said remembering the terrified expression Slap had on before he died. I started to wonder, if what Chopper said is true and his real name is Ezra, maybe I could help.
"Just stop." Circuits said.
"What?" I asked confused.
"You're getting that look which means you have a plan." He told me.
"What me, no, I have no plan." I said, smiling.
"So who's going to search this droids memory?" Circuits asked pulling Chopper up from the oil bath.
"I don't know." I said confused, just then my comm went off.
"GN-9888, report to my office with the droid immediately." Tekara said though the comm.
"Sir, yes, sir." I said as Circuits carried Chopper to me.
"Just in time." He told me. "Good luck."
"Come on Chopper." I told the droid and the two of us rolled out off the repair bay to Tekara office.
We walked to his office in silence passing more troops. We finally reached the door and I buzzed the comm on the door.
"GN-9888 reported in." I said to the other side of the door.
"Come in." I heard the Admiral say and he opened the door.
The two of us walked into his office.
"GN-9888, I want you to search this droids memory." He told me.
"Sir, yes, sir." I said,
"I want you to find the coordinates to their base and any other useful information and you will do it here." He gestured to a table full of different tools on the other side of his office.
"Sir, yes, sir." I said and took the droid to the other table as the Admiral flipped though some files on the desk.
I saw Chopper intensely looking at Tekara. I had to lift him up onto the table.
"I'm sorry, Chopper." I told him as he beeped some protest and I turned him off.
The Admiral glanced my way for a second then continued his work.
I started to take Chopper apart piece by piece to find his memory components, I worked at this for a while.
"Continue to work, GN-9888, I have to deal with the prisoners and don't you dare to try anything." Tekara said as he stood up and walked to the door and gave me one last look. He opened the door, walked out and locked the door behind me.
"It's just you and me Chop." I told the powered off orange droid and continued to work.
