Chapter 5 - Becoming Us

Lauren's P.O.V.

"Can all the girls under 25 please come on stage?" one of the crew members asks.

"Camz get up, we have to go on stage" I said lightly shaking her. 

"Camz?" she says. Oh my.. i didn't realize I called her that out loud.

"Sorry I meant - " she cut me off.

"I like it. Haha no one's ever called me that. My family and friends usually call me Mila, or Kaks." she said. "One condition though"

"What?" I ask.

"I get to call you Lolo then!" she says. I smiled and said okay.

"Cmon Camz, let's get up. We have to go on stage." I continue. We get in line to go on stage but she's up in the front and I'm in the back. I was really nervous.

(On stage)

I walk on stage and there are a bunch of other girls around my age anxiously waiting to hear if they made it through to judge's homes. My nerves start to act up again and I can feel my hands shaking. All the thoughts from earlier start coming back making me feel overwhelmed and more nervous than I already was.

(A few moments later)

They started to call names and I was listening for both mines and Camz. At this point, they still hadn't called either of our names and tears started to form in my eyes. I couldn't hold it in. Tears started to from my eyes but I stayed silent. Still shaking, I ran my fingers through my hair in frustration. 

"And last.." Simon says.

This was it. My name hasn't been called and Camz's wasn't either. Oh my god..  WHAT IF I'M THAT ONE? Wait what about Camz? What if that's her name? I'd be okay with that because she deserves this.

"Beatrice Miller" Simon calls.

My heart dropped when Simon called the last name going through. I started to cry even more, trying to hold back but it didn't do any good. I sat down on stage and held my knees close to my face, sobbing. Wait, I just realized something. Camz's name wasn't called either. I bring my head up from my knees and look around and there she was, crying. God it hurts to see her like this. 

(Later)

Everyone walked out to the courtyard. The acts that made it to judge's homes sat on one side and the acts that didn't sat on the other. Obviously I was the one of those acts that didn't get through. I tried looking for Camz and found her listening to her ipod with her earbuds in. I tap on her shoulder.

"Hey Camz" I said. She moved over a little and I sat down next to her. She turned her head giving me a fake smile. Tears are in her eyes, she had a red nose, and I started to tear up knowing I couldn't do anything to help her.

"Hey Lolo" she managed to get out. I rubbed her back and she immediately wrapped her arms around me. I kissed her head letting her know it's okay.

"It's okay that I didn't get through. Want to know why?" she asks.

"Why?" I ask back.

"Because I made a new friend that I know I can count on along the way." she says.

A wide smile spread across my face. Her words made me so happy. 

"Yea me too." I said and gave her another kiss on the head. With that she gave me the tightest hug.

"Camz -- uhg-- you're-- squish--ing-- me" I manage to say.

"Sorry!" she laughed.

"It's oka--" I get cut off by a loud speaker.

"May I have everyone's attention please? The judges have asked me to bring back the following people. Allyson Brooke Hernandez, Normani Hamiltion, Dinah Jane Hansen, Lauren Jauregui, and Camila Cabello. May these people please follow me to the stage." A crew member announces.

Camz and I both look at each other with a confused face. Why were the judge's calling us back to the stage? I get up and grab Camz's hands to help her up and we both walk towards the crew member. Maybe they're giving us a second chance! If both Camz and I get a second chance I'd be so happy. I snap out of my thoughts to notice Camz slipped her hand in mine. I tighten my grip. We walk hand in hand on stage, and I see the other 3 girls the judges called back. All of us had nervous looks.

"We think that you girls are too unique for this competition to lose. So with that being said, you all as you are, are invited to judge's home." Simon says.

"AHHHH!" We all scream in excitement. All of us had tears rolling down our faces. We came into a group hug taking in this second opportunity we've all been given.
