Rachel had just arrived home from another boring day of school. She strode into the house, greeting her mother who was busy preparing herself for a job interview. "Hello mum! How are you?" Rachel asked. Her mother was still searching for her hairbrush when she realised her daughter was home. "Rachel! Have you had a nice day?? I'll be home at seven so your father is making spaghetti for dinner. Now, where IS that hairbrush?" It was obvious that Rachel's mother was very busy.

Rachel spotted the thin hairbrush under the employment files. She gestured to her mother, and then the files. Her mother seemed to understand, for she walked to the files and retrieve the hair brush. Rachel continued her way upstairs to her room. Rachel put on some more comfortable clothes and put her uniform in the washing machine. She went back to her room and checked her calendar. Rachel traced her finger over the grooves that marked her birthday. "Only two days to go." Rachel thought.

Rachel's mother returned and the family had dinner. It was getting late,so Rachel cleaned her teeth, put on some PJ's and went to bed.

In the middle of the night, Rachel thought she heard a moan, like a young girl crying, but she told herself it was just the wind... Or so she thought.
