-Lavanya's P.O.V-

"No, this sucked," I speak up as I look up at Liam. He chuckles and shakes his head, clearly disagreeing with my opinion.

"No, calculus is funnn," he sings as he fights for his favorite subject.

"Whatever, you're such a geek," I huff. Liam kicks my butt, making me yelp. He throws his head back and laugh just as I twist the doorknob of my room. We walk in, but I'm surprised to Samuel aka Sam here. He just stand there, looking quite freaked out to say the least.

"Sam?" Liam asks, giving him a flat look. Since we've been hanging out, Liam isn't a huge fan of that group. They keep giving me weird looks all the time and Bradley literally avoids me like I'm the plague. It's not like I expected us to be friends, but it gets kind of hurtful after a while.

"Er... Yeah. That's me," he says, speaking in short and fast sentences. He quickly rushes past us to shut the door. Sam rubs his hands together nervously, clearly more freaked out than I initially thought. Something must really be bothering him... Then again, that's not really my problem.

"Uh... Get out?" I tell him more as a question and he shakes his head right away, looking beyond conflicted.

"I can't. You see... Uh. I was... You know, making out with Soniya. I don't know what happened, but er... You know. It all got really warm and I-"

"Dude, we don't want to know. You can talk to your trouble twin about boners and stuff," Liam cuts him off. I cringe at his bold words. Sam glares at him, but his neck turns red as he flushes with embarrassment.

"That's not it! I burned a fucking wall! Like... Literally. I put my hand on it and it left a black handprint on it, like I burned my hand into it!" he rushes out and runs his hands through his hair repeatedly, clearly on the verge of a total freak out.

It's been a month since I got here now. Liam and I hang around all the time and I've been learning how to make small shapes of fire. It's surprisingly easy once you actually get the hang of it.

"So?" I ask him, making him look at me like I'm an alien.

"So? SO!? MY HAND BURNED A FUCKING WALL AND ALL YOU'VE GOT TO SAY IS SO!?" he roars up, looking livid now. I literally see fire appear in his eyes as he throws his hands into the air. A flame roars up over him, making all of us jump. Sam puts his hands in front of himself and it looks like they're on fire, which makes him panic even further.

"Oh my God! Make it stop!" he shrieks, trying to blow it away. I sigh and walk over to him, but he quickly shakes his head. "No no! Don't come closer, I don't want to hurt you," he cries out, backing further away from me.

"It's okay, Sam. You won't hurt me," I assure him. Sam actually starts crying. He looks scared for his own, and my, life. This new revelation is clearly not something he appreciates in this moment.

"B-but.. T-the... The flames, they're h-h-ho-ot," he stutters with his eyes far wider than normally. I muster up the best assuring smile I can, which seems to ease him up a little bit but he still shakes and looks mortified.

"Shh, Sam. Hold your palms out and follow my lead," I instruct him calmly. He nods reluctantly and does like me. I put my hands out, palms up. As I do this, I start thinking about fire and heat in general. My thoughts fill with bonfires, flames, fireplaces, the sun, and eventually, I breathe out flames.

Sam gasps and leans his head a little closer to see if I really had just exhaled fire like some odd dragon. I'm definitely not a dragon, but with practice, I've realized that if I think of things hard enough, I'm able to make them manifest.

"Woah..." he breathes out, slowly calming down a little more as he realizes it's okay. We're fine. He's not alone.

"Just calm down, Sam. The flames won't hurt you because they're a part of you," I tell him, repeating the same things Liam has been telling me the past weeks. He says it to make me believe it's really me. I have to become one with the fire in order to be able to make it appear.

"But it's fire," he deadpans. I let out a small laugh as I nod.

"It's still right here," I point you. "This is your very warm but dangerous soul. You have to truly believe that to control it. Take deep breaths and think about the fire as a part of you, not some scary element. Think of it as an extension of your very own soul, Sam." He slowly nods and looks at his palms. The flames that had been big and strong start to shrink and eventually end up swirling slowly in his palms just like mine.

"So... It's actually a part of me?" he asks as he looks back to me. I nod and he sighs before shutting his eyes. Sam straightens his back, clearly focusing on this.

I've never done this with Liam, but as the thought comes into my mind, I can't help but try it. Stepping closer to him, I thread my fingers with his. Sam's eyes fly open and he's about to pull away but I quickly shake my head, wordlessly telling him to remain put.

"Ignis, ignis, chorus mihi," I speak up even though I have no clue what the words mean, but it's like my mouth moves on its own when I say this. I close my eyes and feel a gush of wind go through my head. As I open my mismatches eyes, I look in front of me again.

I gasp softly along with Sam when I see his flames turn blue. The two balls of fire in his palms slide together as one in the middle and then my red fire wraps in a spiral around his. When it reaches the top of his fire, the two flames fuse together into a purple one and shoot down into our palms, making air knock into my lungs. It looks like has the same effect on him seeing as we both gasp and stumble slightly. Sam's flame gets sucked into his mouth moments later and I can only assume the same happens at me. We both shut our mouths at the same time and the room fall silent.

Our fingers are still linked together and we stand still, looking at each other in shock. Slowly, I pull my fingers out from his and then look at my hands strangely.

"What the hell did you say?" Liam asks me, making me turn to look at him now.

"I don't- I don't know," I frown in confusion. Indeed... What the hell was that?

"You eyes... They turned black," Sam says hesitantly. My eyes widen instantly.

"What?" I blurt out in bewilderment and rush to the bathroom. As I look in the mirror, I frown in confusion again because my eyes are exactly the same as they were before. I'm about to point that out when I return to the room but Liam speaks up first.

"Not now. When you said that sentence, they turned completely black. I don't just mean your irises, but like your whole eyes. It was like the demons in Supernatural black," he explains. Suddenly, a pair of strong arms wrap around me. I give a slight gasp from the surprise as I register Sam's hugging me.

"I have no clue what you said or did, and it was really scary to watch your eyes turn black, but you definitely someone special. Like... Really special," he says while he keeps hugging me.

"Uh... Thanks?" I answer as a question because I'm not quite sure it's a compliment.

"I mean it. I'm sorry about how I've been acting. Do you forgive me?" he asks as he pulls back. Sam keeps looking at me with his warm brown eyes which makes me realize they somehow look warmer now.

"Sure..." I trail off. He beams and kisses my forehead quickly.

"Cool, sooo... We're friends?"

"I didn't say that." The second those words leave my mouth, it's like a weird foggy headache appears in my head and Sam's brown eyes get colder and sadder at an incredible speed. "I mean... That's not what I said, but yeah, sure. We're friends," I add quickly. When his eyes light back up, my foggy headache is gone. Weird.

"Great! Come on, we've got dinner to eat!" he exclaims, taking both of our wrists and pulls us out of the room as if all the shit that just happened hadn't really.

Wow, what the hell just happened?
