"You, know you don't have to stay. "She said. "I know that Dem. But...but maybe I want to stay and make sure you and the baby are okay. Do you know what you are having?"He asked. "I think that I like this Joe. You are so sweet, to me. You don't have to be anywhere now do you?" She asked, as she looked down at her hands. He lifted up her face. "Look at me Dem and listen to me. Just let it all go. Everything that he or anyone else ever said to you. It is in the past. You are worthy, your are strong, beautiful, your are gonna be a great mother and you are not alone right now. I'm right here, and there is no place that I need to be. But right here at this moment."He said, as she smiled and more tears came to her eyes. "I'm sorry Dem. I didn't mean to make you cry."He said, as she just smiled.

"Wow, Joe. You sure do know how to make a woman feel better. I'm not crying cause I'm sad. I'm happy, that you helped me when you did. I don't know what I'm gonna have. I wanted to be surprised."She said. "I see, I think that you are gonna have a little girl." He said, as she smiled. Then her face changed to pain. Another contraction came, then the nurse rushed back in. Joe was about to leave. "No.....P....please stay J...Joe."She said, she breath through the contraction. He nodded his head. Then he pulled the chair up to her bed. She reached out her hand to him. He was surprised, he took her hand. She squeezed it. He tried not to wince, she sure did have one heck of a grip. Joe didn't mind though, he was just shocked that she asked him to stay.

It was now 8:30, Demi still hadn't had the baby. She was close to have the baby. She was getting really tired now. Joe, was still with her. Now he was helping her breath though the contractions. "Okay, come on Dem. It is almost passing now." Joe said, as she breathing through a contraction. "Good, job Dem." He said, as it passed. Tears came to her eyes. He wiped the sweat that was on her forehead. She smiled at him a bit. "Thanks, Joe. I think that I would have given up if it wasn't for you. You are like an angel or something. I know, that I couldn't do this without you. Thank you for staying with me."She said.

Joe gave her a cup of ice chips. Then he sat down, be beside her. "Thanks Joe, you really are a great guy. So um.." She began. Joe softly chuckled."Nope, don't have a girlfriend." He said, as she eyes went wide. "That is what you were going to ask right."He said. "Yeah, wow. Kind of scary how you knew what I was gonna ask you." She said. "I haven't had one for about two years. Things ended bad, with Ashley. Now, I just play it safe. I've dated some, but nothing too serious. I think that I'm wait for the one. Maybe....I....just found her though. She was kind of always in front of me."He said, she winced in pain. He stood beside her and coached her in her breathing again. His heartbeat quicken as she held his hand again. The contraction passed.

The nurse and the Doctor came in. "Okay Miss Lovato. Let's see how much you are dilated." He said, as Joe was going to leave. She pulled his hand and he stopped and looked at her. "No Joe, please stay." He nodded his head and stayed. Moments later the Doctor finished his examination. "Well, you are dilated enough. You can start to push."He said. Just then another contraction came. She squeezed Joe's hand. 10 minutes later. "Okay, Demi one more big push, on the next contraction." The Doctor said. Demi looked at Joe, he could see that she was so tired. He bent down and kissed her forehead. "You, can do this Dem. Just one more time. Just don't give up yet. I'm still here and not going anywhere."He said, in a gentle voice. She gave him a weak smile. "Okay, here comes another one. Now you have to give us more one more big push" The Doctor said, as She held Joe's hand a bit tighter than she had before. She gave a big push. "Great job. Congratulations, it a girl."The Doctor said, a he held up the baby for them to see. She had a good part of lungs, her crying filled the room.  Tears came to her eyes, as she seen her baby. She smiled, Joe saw the baby and tears came to his eyes. He didn't know why.
