NYSSA'S POV

Ash's trial went by in a blur, but the good news was that he wasn't going to be executed, and he was coming home with Kal and me. When we got home, we had a small celebration feast, well it was more like a snack, since Kal hadn't fared leave the boundaries to hunt since Ashton had been found. We had to save all our earnings so we could try to survive on what little we had.

A few weeks later, one night Kal announced he as going out. He didn't say where, but he told us not to wait up for him. So we didn't. I sat in front of the fire staring into it when I turned around seeing a dark figure in the doorway. As he stepped into the low light, those dark eyes of his danced with the fire and I knew it was Ashton.

"Ash, I thought you'd gone to bed?" I say to him "come on you've had a long day you must be tired" I say getting upland walking out of the room. I only get half way out of the doorway before he grabs my arm and pulls me towards him.

"I couldn't sleep Nys. I've missed you so much that I don't want to waste a single second with you" he whispers into my ear. I knew Ashton loved me. He had told me so since he had been back. But I wasn't sure whether I loved him as much as he loved me. I think he had been keeping his distance because he knew me and his brother had become a lot closer since he had gone. I smiled at him and continued to walk to my room him still holding onto my arm. I went to the mirror and braided my loose hair. He stood behind me and I turned around. Right then, he kissed me softly on the cheek and turned towards the door. Without thinking I had pulled him by the shirt and had kissed him back, on the lips this time, he wrapped his arms around my waist and I rested my head on his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat.

When I woke up in the morning, I vaguely remember Ashton slipping into my bed and wrapping his arms around me in the night.i look up at him asleep and snuggle into his chest. That's when I realise Kal stood in the doorway staring at us.
