An excerpt from the novel I will never write:

She watched him walk off into the sunset, as cliche as that sounded, and felt her heart sink. He was leaving her again. But he would return, she knew it. He always came back. Always. Myra, ever faithful even where he was not, came and sat beside her. "I've had thousands of adventures and never have I come across a man as noble as that boy."

She smiled, leaning against the griffins firm body, "Myra, how old are you?"

Myra pauses, thinking. "I'm approaching a millenium."

"And have you met a lot of other people in all that time?" she asked.

The griffin chuckles, or more cawed. "I dare say so, yes."

She twirled her hair around her finger, hesitant to ask her next question. "Myra, have you ever been in love?"

"No," Myra cuddles up next to her, lending the girl its warmth. "But I've been set on fire, which is very much the same thing." She laughs now, a sudden feeling of sleepiness overcoming her. Perhaps she wasn't yet in love, but she was quite sure the spark was there.

-end-

(Holy crapcakes was that cheesy or what? Still, I laughed while writing it so it's a partial win at least. The only reason I really wrote this was because I wanted to use that 'set on fire' line and I wanted to have it come out of the mouth of a griffin, and i didn't want to have to write a whole book in order to do it. So here ya'll go. Idk what to do with it, so you have it.)
