||Summary: Ralph is feeling cold at night. Jack notices this and decides to warm him up.

Fluff.

A tiny bit of Roger x Simon and some cute brother-like stuff between Jack and Percival.

Pretty much a day or so after arriving on the island.

Sort of based on the 1963 film.||

~

It was nighttime. The island's tropical colors had now been covered by the dark shadows of the night and the ghostly light of the moon. The noise of the waves in the water of the sea and the soft whistling noise of the wind created a soothing and comforting feeling within the boys. Everyone appeared to be sleeping peacefully. Piggy was fast asleep. Simon was curled up next to Roger and snuggled quite close to him. Sam and Eric let out gentle snores. Percival's breathing was soft and calming. The littluns were relaxed and didn't whimper at all.
Everyone was relaxed and asleep but Jack Merridew. Jack, for some reason, couldn't sleep. He figured he would've been exhausted by now with all that's been happening. But instead he was wide awake. Maybe it was because he wasn't use to sleeping outside on an island? Maybe he just couldn't adjust to the hard surface of the ground? He didn't know.
The auburn looked around at all of the sleeping bodies on the ground. He smirked a little at the closeness of Simon's and Roger's bodies.

Well someone's being an awful flirt, Jack thought teasingly.

His eyes moved on and focused on Percival, a faint smile tugged at his lips. Jack would never say this out loud, but Percival was freaking adorable. He was so tiny and he slept like a little infant. Not to mention, he was shy and quiet, like Simon. Him and Simon were probably the most innocent of the group.
Jack averted his gaze from the small boy and looked on, no one really capturing his attention now. Although he did cringe a bit at the sight of Piggy. Sure, he barely knew the fatty, but he hated him already. Just another nuisance.
He sighed, about to stand up and dip his feet into the water until he noticed a movement within the bodies. He rose a brow. Someone's having a nightmare perhaps? He examined the figure closer. Smaller than him...Bronze skin that the moonlight showed...Sort of bright hair...Ah, now Jack knew who it was. It was the fatty's friend, the "chief" of this group; Ralph.

So he is a coward...

Jack studied the boy's body movements carefully. He wasn't making any noise, it seemed. Although, it did appear that he was shivering.

Hmm...Must be cold, then...

He glanced over at the black cloak he had had on earlier. Then back at Ralph, who seemed to be shivering uncontrollably by now. He sighed and stood up, bending down to pick up the cloak. He moved over to Ralph and sat next to him, covering his body up with the cloak.
"Huh?" Ralph blinked, turning his head. His eyes widened a little when he saw Jack's freckled face. He sure didn't expect this type of gesture from him.
"Go to sleep." He said in response and sighed, laying down.
Ralph rolled over onto his side so he faced Jack now, keeping the cloak wrapped tight around him. "How come you aren't asleep?"
Jack turned his head to look at Ralph and shrugged. "I guess I'm not tired yet."
The dirty blonde nodded slightly. Then he noticed that Jack was barely wearing anything now. He had on no shirt. Just a pair of shorts and his boots and socks. "Aren't you cold?" He rose a brow.
"Well unlike you, I can handle a bit of wind." Jack responded, placing both of his arms underneath his head.
Ralph stared at Jack, biting down onto his lower lip. "Jack...I know you're upset about me being chief, but--"
"I'm not upset about that. Be chief for all I care. As long as I get to have my Hunters and as long as I get to hunt down some meat for us."
Ralph sighed. "We need the fire to get help."
"We need meat."
"Is that really all you care about Jack? Hunting down a silly little pig?"
Jack was silent. But then spoke up again in a soft voice. "We need meat..."
"We need to go home."
"No, we don't. Not yet, anyway. It's not so bad here. Don't have to worry about adults telling us what to do. Then again, you're not much better."
The smaller boy sighed. "I'm sorry, all right? I'm grateful for your hunting. Really, I am. But I miss being home. Wouldn't you much rather be in a comfy bed than this?"
Jack sighed himself now. Ralph was right and he hated to even think about that. "I guess."
"Well to get that back, we need the fire to catch someone's attention."
"I'm sorry..." Jack mumbled out in reluctance.
"What?"
"I said I'm sorry. About the fire, I mean."
Ralph smiled a little at this. "It's all right. Just please start to focus on something other than meat. I don't mind eating some dry fruit."
Jack looked at Ralph, smiling faintly. "Fine. I'll try."
Ralph smiled wider. "Good. Now let's try to get some sleep. We've got a big day for tomorrow."
Jack nodded in response and watched Ralph roll onto his other side. His eyes were now facing his back. The auburn shuffled closer and turned over, wrapping his arms around Ralph's skinny waist.
Ralph gasped softly in shock. "Jack..?"
"Shut up." He muttered, burying his face into the dirty blondes warm neck.
Ralph let out a small breath and closed his eyes. The two boys soon drifted off into a deep slumber.
