Ludicrous (A Really Weird Teen Wolf AU)

chapter 11- layden and layden and more layden

A/N: (So I have some dilemmas I'd like your help with if you would please read the authors note on at the end of the chapter...)

What is the noise a raindrop makes as it hits the roof? How do you even describe it? Is it a plip or plop or thud or splat? Maybe it's a whole new sound never invented. Maybe it's just a sound waiting to be discovered or named. Maybe it's an extraterrestrial signal from aliens or something and it's impossible to name since it's literally unearthly. Maybe it's a connection to a parallel universe where the if a raindrop hits the same spot a certain amount of times it will open up a portal to another dimension.

Or maybe it's just bop. Yeah it's definitely a bop.

Liam Dunbar, human turned to puppy turned to human, lay on the McCall's guest bed in the middle of the night in that comfortable doze where you're half awake half asleep, listening to the bop of the rain hitting his roof.

Bop bop bop bop bop. (Okay maybe it's not a bop...)

This spectrum of sounds was interrupted by the tapping- not of rain- on his window, breaking his doze, and overpowering the bopping.

Tap tap tap tap tap tap. (Or maybe it was knocking...)

I think you know who was knocking (tapping?) on Liam Dunbar's window in the middle of the night in the pouring rain. Hayden Romero.

Liam swallowed nervously, juggling the idea of pretending he hadn't heard her. Ever since the conversation he heard in Lydia's bedroom, he was accidentally avoiding her. Okay fine- intentionally ignoring her. He didn't want to confront the problem- like Stiles, (ok i cried typing Stiles I literally just watched the episode..) he was personally a fan of ignoring a problem until it eventually went away- unlike his girlfriend who was the kind of person to confront everything head on and with vigor- like his alpha, or Lydia.

So maybe Liam was avoiding the conversation they'd have, and not the girl herself.

In the end, Liam dragged himself out from under his covers, and let the girl in- but only because she was now soaking wet, probably mad, and he didn't want her to catch a cold. Okay fine, he knows werewolves can't catch colds- he just didn't want her to break his window open.

Without saying a word, Liam took off the Beacon Hills Lacrosse hoodie he wore, and handed to the shivering sophomore, who took it gratefully. She took the act as a sign that he wasn't mad at her, but when he didn't meet her gaze, she knew something with still up.

Liam led her to the bed where she sat quietly, peeling off her sopping t-shirt while he fetched (dog jokes lmao) her a towel in a rather uncomfortable silence. The two sat stiffly side by side after that.

Hayden ran the towel through her dripping thick dark locks, lips pursed Lydia- style (Style :..( omg) as she pondered what exactly she'd say to him. What had she done to earn his cold shoulder? What had she done during the time he spent as a puppy?

And then it hit her like a dart striking the bulls eye.

Immediately after the metaphorical dart struck the center in Hayden's mind, she ditched the towel, and wrapped Liam in a tight hug, one she heard him suppress a noise of shock in his throat before hesitantly hugging back, but at a distance.

"I'm sorry." she whispered.

Liam felt a prick of irritation under his skin as he rapidly broke away from her hold. "That's it? 'I'm sorry'? No explanation- nothing? Just an 'I'm sorry' and a hug like it was no big deal??" Tears sprung in the beta's blue eyes as the pain he'd been suppressing rose to the surface. Hayden looked stricken, but Liam was too wrapped up in his emotions to notice. "You cheated on me, Hayden! You broke the trusting bond we shared in our relationship, and you broke my heart. I get that me being turned into a... a puppy... was weird, but that doesn't make me an idiot!"

Hayden was absolutely taken aback by Liam's outburst. "Cheated on you? Liam, I-"

"I heard you and Lydia talking! I heard you two, so don't try to deny it!"

"Deny what, Liam? Deny that I cheated on you, because I didn't- I would never do that to you. I would never hurt you, and I certainly would never cheat on you." Liam opened his mouth to protest, but Hayden lifted a hand to stop him as she continued, "Listen to my heartbeat if you don't believe me. I understand you're hurt right now, but you've got to hear me out. Listen when I tell you I did not cheat on you."

Liam clenched his jaw as he listened to the same beat he fell asleep to an endless amount of times. It didn't stutter, remaining steady and even the whole time.

Liam swallowed before he spoke softly, his voice waving slightly. "Then why did you-"

"It was a mistake. Lydia explained the whole thing to me- it's actually kind of stupid if I think about it." she interrupted, blushing at the embarrassing memory.

"So.... you didn't cheat on me then?" he asked, eyebrows furrowed as all of the rage in his body was subdued.

Hayden smiled softly, and took his hand, rubbing her thumb over the back of it gently. "Of course not- I... I love you, Liam Dunbar."

And that was the first time she ever said it- either of them ever said it. Looking past the slight hurt at the statement (he wanted to be the first to say it) Liam felt this warm glow spread inside of him, like his heart was resting on a heating vent.

His smile was wobbly as he lined his lips up close to hers, and whispered against them, "I love you too, Hayden Romero." before connecting them.

It lasted for ten magical minutes of pure love shared between the two before a knock on the door interrupted them from their bliss.

Derek popped his head inside, and if he was stunned or shocked by the two and their intimacy (Nothing happened *yet ;)* but with Liam's bare chest, and Hayden stripped down to just a bra, you'd think it did...) he didn't show it. Impassive as ever, the wolf stared at the two as he relayed Scott's message. "You two better get down here- something's happened..." in a cryptic tone. Okay fine- not a cryptic tone, it was his usual monotone one.

A/N: okay so I finally updated this- yay!- and more is to come soon. I've got lots of ideas, and I'm getting right to work, so don't worry about this story.

Anyway, I've had some time, and I've actually started writing a new fic- and I've got like two chapters done already. I'm really nervous about posting it though- it's an au, and it's based off of an Instagram story that was discontinued and I'm not over it. It's about Liam (duh) and it's a story where he can see Allison's ghost, and she needs his help because he's the only one who can see her, and therefore help her. I've got some more ideas for it but idk I need you guys' help- would that be something you'd be interested in? I already am going to post it on AO3 if any of you are on that- they eat that stuff on there. But what do you guys think- should I post it? Would you like to read it? And maybe someone could possibly beta it for me if any of you would be interested in that- I'd love to work with one of you guys. Anyway please let me know! (If you read this of course lol it was sooo long...)
