"mark... if you can hear me... please wake up..." Mark didn't move. Sean sobbed and hugged his friend as the nurse turned off the equipment. One final high tone echoed through the air. Even the heart monitor went silent. Sensing the awkwardness of the moment, the nurse slipped out of the room.

"mark... what'm I gonna do without you?" He kissed him lightly on the forehead. He fell back into a chair and cried.

"Jack, are you okay?" It sounded like... NateWantstoBattle?- raspy from crying. Sean looked up.

He was alone. His phone buzzed. It was Nate.
i just heard. i'm on my way there.

Sean looked over at Mark's body, riddled with needles. He stood and carefully started removing the wires from his skin. As he disconnected a tube from Mark's arm, his finger twitched slightly.

Stupid reflexes

Sean sat back down on the cot beside him, running a hand through his fiery hair. "What'm I gonna tell your fans? Your friends? Who's gonna take care of Chica?" His eye twitched. "I don't want to lose you."

Looking up, Sean saw one of Mark's eyes was cracked open the teeniest bit. He felt anger rise in his throat. "Fuck off, Darkiplier. Go back to whatever hellhole you came from." Fresh tears poured from his eyes. "He's dead. You killed him. Are ya' happy now, you bastard?" Sean hugged Mark one last time. "i love you."

Love you too

Dark was toying with him, watching him suffer He grabbed his arm. Sean slowly looked up, death in his eyes.

A hand rested on Sean's arm, clinging to his sleeve. Mark's face stared back at him, pale. Of course Mark looked exactly like that demon. But something was wrong.

"Sean." Dark started coughing, like he hadn't spoken in years, his chocolate brown eyes filled with pain.

Chocolate brown eyes.

Chocolate brown.

Brown.

Not red.

The brown, not red, eyes smiled at him.

Dark was making him see things. Sean took the hand on his arm and checked for the one thing that could distinguish them with certainty.

The brown eyes had a pulse.
