The Palace in the Air
26th Year of the Ocean
2nd Moon
Though Davri knew Zero the All-Seeing Owl was blind, he still felt unnerved by the owl's eyes. He knew that even though Zero seemed to be facing him, the owl wasn't seeing him as Davri watched him from across the room. Yet Davri still felt as if he was being watched. It's as if he knows something I don't, Davri thought – then realised he was probably right. It was likely that Zero had seen flickers of Davri's future, though the owl probably wouldn't mention them even if asked.
Davri.
His head snapped up, drawing his eyes away from Zero to look at Blissé, who paced the Wind Room. "Sorry." He mumbled.
Zero has informed me we are to assume we will soon be receiving guests. The dragon told him.
"Guests?" Davri asked. "Is there to be some form of council meeting? Has Princess Varille's coronation been moved forward?"
Blissé shook her head. Zero has seen Gaiamere's Dragonheir-in-Waiting and his betrothed leaving for Venteer by sea. He estimates they will arrive before the turn of the moon.
"Gaiamere?" Davri asked, then, "Dragonheir-in-Waiting?"
It seems Bacchi's Familiar, Tellus of Secrets, has been missing since the beginning of the First Moon. Bacchi allegedly refused to officially choose a Dragonheir without Tellus' guidance, and instead named a possible future Dragonheir whom will only officially ascend if Tellus approves.
"I didn't know a dragon could even do that." Davri remarked. "Can he do that?"
Blissé seemed to sigh. Too often humans believe there is a rule against something purely because it hasn't been done before – just as the current situation in Avalona. Lymphario of the Avalonian Sea chose a female Dragonheir. As did Ignotus of the Volcano. Many of the people are shocked as they foolishly believed a Dragonheir could only be a male, as no females had been chosen before.
Davri's brows furrowed. "I-I... I also thought Dragonheirs had to be males." He muttered.
The dragon shook her head. Open your mind, Davri. Knowledge is not the same thing as wisdom. You must learn this to become the Dragonheir you're destined to become?
"And what kind of Dragonheir is that?"
One that apparently loves to ask questions. Zero interjected. Yet, seemingly, never the right ones. Are you not curious as to why the Gaians have requested an audience with us? Considering the fact that they have sent their Dragonheir-in-Waiting, the responsibility of hosting these guests falls to you, Davri of the Wind, rather than the Three Queens.
Davri stared at the owl wide-eyed. "Why does the responsibility fall to me?"
Because you are the Dragonheir, Davri. Blissé reminded him. Therefore, you will be responsible for any circumstances surrounding me or any other dragons of Flareia. Gaiamere would not send their Dragonheir-in-Waiting for circumstances not concerning Bacchi of the Evergreen in some way.
He glanced over at Zero, trying not to flinch away from the owl's starry eyes. "So, why have they requested an audience with us?"
Well, Zero said matter-of-factly, they mainly request an audience with me. I could not see the reason explicitly, but I think it safe to assume they search for information on Tellus' disappearance.
