12: Unfolding Discovery

Qrow stared deeply into the blueprint as he studied the structure of the vault. He's been studying this for two days now and his mind was filled with nothing but stress and pain.

As he ran his fingers through his dark gray hair, he had swirled the ice in his glass cup of whiskey with his fingertips. Through the silence, you could easily hear the hard solid ice clinking against the glass.

Qrow sighed once more as he shuffled his body on the seat.

He then started to wonder about Winter. What is she doing right now? Is she with someone else? Has she changed her looks at all yet? What is she wearing...?

He shook off the thought of his ex and stood from his chair with the glass cup in his hands. He then entered the living room and grabbed the remote from the big couch to turn on the big flat screen TV. As he kept sipping his whiskey, he flipped every channel he had found until he stopped at the Remnant World News. Qrow leaned forward to get a closer look at an expensive diamond ring being shown at the screen and being discussed by a woman named Lisa Lavender.

"A man named Dominic Shaw, a young millionaire, had himself craft a fine ring that was made from a royal blue sapphire", Lisa said through the TV. "This magnificent gem alone cost more than $20,000,000. It came from-"

Qrow had switched the channel before he could hear Lisa finish.

"If only I'd steal that", he mumbled.

He leaned back against the couch again as he flipped through the channels once more. This time he had stopped at a commercial of Braunschweiger Jewelers, showing an ice blue and pine colored marquise necklace as it showed the price of $47,000.

"Why didn't I get that, too?" Qrow chuckled to himself. "Shit, that would've looked good on Winter-"

He had smacked his mouth shut after he realized what he had said. He then drank his whole whiskey to shake off his self-awkwardness.

Why would he think of Winter? Why now?

Qrow quickly changed the channel many times until he had found a rerun movie that was playing. Even though the movie, Since the Season Began, was a romantic comedy type, Qrow really needed something to distract him from his thoughts.

He sighed and leaned back once again as he listened to the movie's dialogue.

"Henry, I can't believe you brought me here", the giggly girl in the movie said as she was walking through the snowy woods.

"I just wanted to make this day special for you, Rebecca", the second protagonist said as he followed the girl.

Of course, Qrow cringed hard but it was only because he wanted to get his mind off of his ex. 

"Winter is so beautiful-"

Qrow quickly turned off the TV before he let the dialogue finish.

"This is bullshit", he said to himself.

He got up and paced back and forth as he tried not to think about his ex.

"What the hell is going on with me...? I need another drink."

Qrow walked back to the kitchen and went in the fridge. After popping a beer bottle open, he sat down on a stool and ran his fingers through his hair. He took a big gulp from his beer and almost slammed the bottle against the counter.

He couldn't help but think about Winter's perfect body. He couldn't stop thinking about how perfect the way her tight dresses hugged her flawless curves and her breasts. The way her jewelry would hang and delicately touch her white pale skin. And he remembered that there was nothing better than seeing Winter's perfect smile as her blue eyes glistened like two gems shining against a ray of light.
