8: Risky Line

It was already afternoon as Qrow recounted his bullets from his gun to kill his time of boredom as Ozpin was on his laptop, studying the online blueprint of the Oculus Trust main vault.

Ironwood stood on the balcony as he looked at the stunning view of Atlas.

The summer breeze softly blew against his face as he listened to the long distance sound of cars honking from traffic. There was nothing better than to listen to those sounds in a big, wealthy, and jeopardous city. Especially hearing the wailing sounds of cops nearby.

But all that couldn't ease his nerves down from thinking about tomorrow's heist. With a job like this, Roman wasn't the easiest to talk out of. Memories started to flash in Ironwood's head, remembering how menacing Roman really was.

As a thief, you only carry guns if it's necessary to shoot someone who is shooting at you. But you never shoot an innocent bystander.

Roman was nothing like that.

Ironwood remembered how many innocent lives Roman took as they were first trying to steal from the vault in the Summit Bank Group from the city of Mistral. Bullets sprayed everywhere onto people's chest, limbs, and head. The sounds of men and women screaming as they saw their loved ones die in front of them. Even the children that were brought there had to see their parents die.

But before they could even touch the vault, the cops had already surrounded the place.

Seeing how cold-hearted and evil Roman was, Qrow, Ozpin, and Ironwood had left without him through an underground tunnel as the cops took Roman and sent him behind bars. But all that was 5 years ago...

But what he didn't understand was that he was released from prison! But by who? Was it Cinder? Or maybe Mercury and Emerald? That became a mystery. Whoever let him free surely must be insane as Roman. For the terrible things he had done, he should have been locked up for a long time. Or maybe for life!

"Hey, Qrow?" Ironwood called as he walked back inside from the balcony.

"Yeah?" Qrow responded as he still recounted his bullets.

"You remember why we left Roman and decided to continue without him?"

Qrow fell silent as he immediately remembered the massacre Roman did at the bank of Mistral.

"Yeah..."

"Does it make any sense knowing what he did, he was only locked up in prison for 5 years?" Ironwood asked.

Qrow finally looked up from his gun and looked at Ironwood.

After receiving that question, he thought about it.

"Maybe someone bailed him out", Ozpin chimed.

"Could be one of his workers", Qrow added. "Maybe the White Fang?"

It all started to make sense. Maybe it was the White Fang! But why would the most dangerous mafia in Atlas release a minor, but an insane man like Roman? Surely they must have been bribed or something. Probably it was Emerald and Mercury. But for what reason? No, it wouldn't make any sense because Roman never mentioned that they were his prison pals or something like that. It could have been Cinder. Anyone would bail out their lover if they were in jail. Now the small puzzle pieces came together. Yes, maybe they will assume that it was Cinder.

"It's very confusing", Ozpin said. "He was already sentenced to serve 40 years- plus life, in prison for murder and robbery, but was released after 5 years."

"Yeah, that doesn't make any sense", Qrow agreed.

"Yet he was still bailed."

The three men could only think of assumptions to why Roman was released too early.
