"Autumn, baby? Get up for a sec." He calls.
I groan, tossing my head vehemently before squeezing my eyes tighter. I am not a morning person, especially on my day off.
"Autumn, please get up, baby." He tries again, his palm gently shoving my back.
"No..." I growl, shoving the sheets over my head.
He sighs aloud. I hope it is in defeat. But my claims are proven false when the bed suddenly dips and I remove the covers to find him hovering over me.
"I've asked nicely. Get your lazy ass up woman!" He chuckles, completely yanking the sheets away from me.
I roll my eyes and lean up.
My hair is a bird nest, I already know. Whatever he is so enthusiastic about better be worth it. I need more rest, I never get enough throughout a regular work week.
He smiles and shakes his head.
"Damn beautiful woman, why you give me such a hard time?" He chuckles, still hover over me.
"Damn charming man, why you wake me so?" I joke along.
His smile widens as he leans forward.
"I just wanted a kiss before I left. I'm about clock in for the day."
I glance around for a nearby clock. Finding one on his nightstand, I dock the time:
three-fifteen, in the morning.
"It's so early..." I whine, turning towards him.
He nods and shrugs.
"I'm a doctor. My hours are never stable. Besides, if I want to make it home to you on time, I have to go early." He smiles, small but still beautiful.
My smile only widen as he referred to this as home, meaning ours. I've been "visiting" for two weeks now and already I have made his gorgeous home my home.
"So you do miss me during the day, is that what you are saying?" I tease, our nose touching.
He playfully rolls his eyes and steals a small peck.
"Not really, I just want to make sure you don't eat all of my snickerdoodles, my mother sent me those."
I playfully pout, feigning hurt by his accusations, but when he gives me a knowing smirk and a raised eyebrow I cave and roll my eyes.
"Those are so damn good! Can you blame me?" I try to reason, his smirks softens into a smile before he checks the time.
"Damn... I gotta go!" He pecks my lips quickly, lifting away from the bed. "You know the procedure, right?" He asks, collecting the last of his tools for today.
I watch him with an admirable smile.
"Yes, sir. Alarm code is zero, two, three, three. Windows are all remotely powered and the remote is in your top dresser drawer... Along with your extra condoms. Yo--"
"I think we should make use of those." He pauses at his bathroom door.
I roll my eyes and continue.
"Food is in the fridge. Don't go out with my cellphone. The police station is a few blocks away... Anything else?"
He walks up to me and smiles.
"Be careful. I'm only a phone call away. The hospital is not too far from here, only a ten minute drive, five minutes if I run a few lights."
"I'll be okay, I have a big ole house and a bunch of security gadgets. I'll be fine." I reassure him.
