First Date- FT Freddy

"Nah.... Nope... Ugh! Why do you even have that!?"

You set down the bright yellow sun dress. "It's cute, (Best friend name)! It's good over a swim suit." "But you're not wearing a swim suit." "True, true."

You picked up a loose, black dress to your elbows and above knees with a silver belt. "How about this?" "Hmm... Good enough! I pick the shoes, though. And socks!" she replied. 

You sat at your vanity to apply your makeup of bright red lipstick, light pink blush, and eyeliner. (BFN) sifted through your sock drawer, looking through your assortment of thigh highs and ankle highs and everything in between. Almost as soon as you finished your makeup, (BFN) tossed a pair of purple knee highs in the air. "Found them! Grab your purple head band and silver flats, then you'll be all dolled up!" she shouted. You put your socks on, grabbed your headband, then slipped on your shoes and took your purse. 

"Ready! Thanks and see you later, (BFN)!" "No problem, (YN). Have fun! And tell me how it goes," she winked before you both made your way to your cars. You got in, then backed out of your drive way and started the five minute drive to Starbucks.

You pulled into the small parking lot, got out of your car, then strode up to the doors. Taking a deep breath to calm your nerves, you opened the door to be greeted by the smell of coffee and the sound of happy chatter. You ordered your drink, then sat at a booth near the back to wait for both your drink and your date. The two of you had met on a dating app. Usually, you wouldn't do that, but (BFN) had gotten tired of your single self and forced you to. Your date had had close to the same thing happen to him, his friends pressuring him into it. 

"Order for YN!" called a barista, setting your cup on the counter. You scurried up, took the cup, grabbed a straw, then ran back to your seat. Seeing as you were still five minutes early, you took out a book and read for a few minutes.

Suddenly, someone sat across from you. "Hello. YN, right? It's me, Freddy. Nice to meet you, finally!" a man with white and purple hair greeted, coffee in hand with his other hand on front of him. Tentatively, you reached across the table and shook his hand. "Um, nice to meet you, too," you replied, blushing lightly. It was awkward for a moment, before he asked, "So, what did you get to drink? I got decaf with extra cream and a shot of hazelnut." You thought for a moment, before replying with what you had gotten. 

"So, um, have you ever been on a date before" you asked. He shook his head. "Nope. All my friends are with someone, though. Kinda annoying, you know? All these cute couple pictures, couple challenges, hell, even couple Halloween costumes. Then there's me, in the corner. My only partner is a Skulduggery Pleasant book." You giggled, then replied with, "Yep. I can definitely relate. I had to practically beg my best friend to help me pick out an outfit and leave her girlfriend for half an hour." "Well, she did a good job. You look great," he complemented. You were taken aback for a moment, then quickly regained your composure. "Well, you're not too shabby yourself, Freddy," you shot back. For the rest of the date, you both talked about books and random things, a couple of jokes and sarcasm tossed around.

"Hey, YN, I had a great time. Maybe we should do this again?" Freddy suggested as you both walked out of the shop. "Sure! This was nice," you replied, smiling widely. Suddenly, something caught your eye. "Why do you have a... Bunny clip?" you inquired gesturing to a blue bunny stuffy clipped to his black pants. "Oh, this? My best friend gave it to me for my birthday a few years ago... I kept it as a keepsake after he moved away a year later. I miss him..." Freddy replied, looking away and smiling gently. You nodded, suddenly guilty that you had said that. 

"So, um, I have to go now. See you later!" you called as you gave him a quick hug and made your way to your car, waving behind yourself. "See you, YN!" he shouted back, going to his own car. You smiled to yourself, replaying the entire date as you made your way home.
