The realization, of you not coming back, slowly came to everyone.
It came when we waited for you to walk through the door jingling your keys.
It slapped us all in the face when we stood in your empty bedroom cleaning up, and no one ushered us out.
It stopped us in our tracks when the funeral home called and said your body was ready.
That was the moment we all broke, the thin thread which had held us suddenly snapped.
