The Lone Wolf

Chapter 17

Alexis's POV

I woke up in the morning in bed by myself. I sat up and looked around the room. I listened and I heard movement downstairs. I got up from bed and went to brush my teeth in the bathroom. Shawn told me that we're supposed to do that every morning. After I was done, I went downstairs to see Shawn making food in the kitchen. I walked up to him and kissed his cheek. He smiled and turned towards me. He gave me a light kiss on the lips and turned back around to finish cooking. I think he was cooking what humans call bacon and it smells delicious. Once he was done, I noticed that he also made pancakes. I smiled as he served us a plate and put it in front of me. I'm sure that if I was a wolf right now, my tail would be wagging. I dug into the food and he chuckled.

" Love, slow down. You look like you haven't eaten in days." He said to me.

" The food is so good!" I said. He chuckled and shook his head at me. I finished my food quickly and washed my dish like Shawn showed me. I walked back over to Shawn and sat beside him.

" What are we doing today?" I asked him.

" I have a surprise for you." He told me and I smiled.

" What is it?" I asked him.

" I can't tell you that because it wouldn't be a surprise anymore. We are going there later so for now, you and I are going to cuddle." Shawn said as he picked me up and put me over his shoulder. I squealed and hit his back.

" Shawn, put me down." I said giggling.

" As you wish, my love." He said putting me down on the couch and laying down between my legs. He leaned down and kissed me passionately. Things started to get heated as he took my shirt off.

We were on the floor in the living room cuddled into each other's naked body. Shawn started getting up from the floor but I pulled him back down.

" No!" I whined. I was so comfortable.

" Love, I want to take you somewhere. We need to get up and get ready." He said and I sighed. I allowed him to get up and followed him upstairs. He grabbed some clothes and put them on. I grabbed some of my clothes and put them on. Shawn handed me his brush to brush my now wild hair. Once we were ready, we walked back downstairs. I headed to the door to leave but Shawn pulled me back.

" Aren't we leaving?" I asked him tilting my head to the side slightly.

" Yeah we are but I need you to put this around your eyes and put these in your nose." He said and I furrowed my brows at him.

" Why?" I asked him.

" I want where we're going to be a surprise but you can smell better than a human so I want you to block your nose." He said and I shook my head.

" Shawn, I don't..." I started but he cut me off by placing his hand on my cheek. I sighed and leaned into his touch.

" Trust me." He said and I sighed. I nodded and put the weird things in my nose and he tied the thing around my eyes. I felt a little scared and started to reach out for something. Shawn grabbed my hands gently.

" It's okay, love. I'm right here. I will lead you to where we are going." He said and I nodded. I'm putting my trust in him because he is my mate and I love him. He led me out of the house and I heard him close the door behind us. He led me over to the car and helped me get in. We drove for a bit and then we finally stopped. I heard Shawn get out of the car and come to my side to help me out. We started walking and Shawn would tell me every  so often to step over something. As we were walking, I started to feel very anxious and nervous. I don't know why. We finally stopped and Shawn told me I could take off the thing covering my eyes and the things in my nose. I blinked rapidly to get used to the bright light and I noticed we were in the forest. I saw that Shawn set up a food and a blanket on the floor. I smiled at him but then frowned as I took a whiff of the air. My eyes widened in fright and I grabbed Shawn's hand.

" We have to leave." I said and started pulling him in the opposite direction. He stopped and looked at me.

" What's wrong?" He asked me.

" We just have to leave!" I said to him and grabbed his arm again.

" What's wrong with you? Talk to me." He said and I sighed.

" We've crossed into my old packs territory. By now they probably know we are here. If my father finds you, he will kill you. We have to leave now!" I said to him. I quickly grabbed his arm and we started running. I heard howls coming from many different directions. They've got us trapped. I need to keep Shawn safe.

" Why did you stop?" Shawn asked.

" They've got us trapped. No matter where we run, we will run into one of them." I said panicked. I looked around and wolves started coming out of the bushes and we were surrounded. I growled and pulled Shawn behind me. There was 4 of them. I turned into my wolf and growled loudly at them. They growled back and one stepped forward. I knew who it was. It was my father's best friend, Joey.

" Come with us." He demanded. I growled at him.

" No!" I yelled at him.

" You either come willingly or we will use force!" He yelled back and I growled again.

" Force it is." He said and turned towards the other wolves.

" Get them." He said and they started walking towards us again. One of them ran at me but I bit down on his neck and threw him. Another came and I used my claws to scratch his face and then rammed into his side. Joey and the other wolf both ran at me and attacked. I was fighting hard but Joey got a hard bite on my neck causing me to yelp. I scratched his chest and he let go.

" Alexis!" Shawn yelled out and was about to run to me but one of the wolves jumped on him and pinned him down. I saw this and I managed to push the two wolves off of me and ran to tackle the wolf on Shawn. I hit him so hard that he tumbled and landed on his back. I took that to my advantage and pounced on him while biting into his neck. He yelped and I bit down harder. I was about to rip his throat out when I was pushed off by a heavy force. I stumbled across the forest floor and hit a tree. I whined in pain as pain shot up my front leg. I turned back and held my right wrist. The other wolves turned back and walked towards me. I looked over and noticed that one of the men had Shawn. I went to get up to save him but Joey grabbed me by the throat and pinned me against a tree. I tried to get out of his grip but he was too strong.

" Leave him alone!" I yelled at the man who had Shawn.

" Look at this boys. She mated with a human. I'm sure your father will love to hear about this. Take him boys." He said and I started fighting him again.

" No! No!" I yelled and then I felt myself be slammed against the tree. Everything went fuzzy as Joey dropped me to the floor. The last thing I heard was Shawn calling my name before everything went black.
