Miranda's pov

He pulls his guitar out of the case. He strums to a fast song. "On the road again, just can't wait to get on the road again, the life I love is makin' music with my friends, and I just can't wait to get on the road again." He sings softly. "Wow you're really good at that." He smiles. "Thanks. Music is my life. Before... Everything happened, it was baseball but now.... It's music." "You never did tell me what happened." I say, sitting behind him. He sighs. "I'm sorry. It's not that I don't trust you. It's just hard to talk about." I stare at my shoes. "Do you think we'll be okay?" I whisper, looking out at the world flying by. He stares out there too. "Yeah. We got this." I look back at him. I see that wanting in his eyes. He wants to tell me. He just doesn't know how. He closes his eyes and leans his head back against the traincar. "Dad I wonder if I ever let you down or if you're ashamed how I turned out." He whispers. I rest a hand on his knee. He opens his eyes, looking ten years older all of a sudden. He lowers his legs and sits up, wrapping me in a hug. I nuzzle my head in his neck. "The other day... You said... Not to leave you." He whispers. "Yeah." I say, sitting up and looking in his eyes. "I promise I'll never leave you." He says, smiling. I snuggle into his chest as the cold air blows around. "Goodnight, princess." He whispers, kissing my forehead and wrapping a blanket around me. And for once in my life I don't mind that he called me princess.

*the next day*

I was shaken awake when Jason said it's time to jump off. "I'm scared." I whimper grabbing his hand. He holds mine tight lacing our fingers together. "Don't worry." He wraps an arm around my waist. I clutch his guitar fearfully. Jason grabs a rung. The train slows slightly and we jump off, crashing to the ground. I cough and shake the dirt off me. "Wow. Adrenaline rush." I gasp off balance. He steadies me. "Where are we?" "Tennessee." I glance down at his guitar. His musical dream. I hold his hand again. He smiles down at me. "What are we waiting for?" He kisses my lips and we go into the town that made country music famous. "Day one of the rest of our lives. You ready?" "I was born ready." He says, staring intently in front of us.

Sorry it's so short.
