Ghost is waiting outside and looking at his watch. Wondering what took John so long? Then he saw a group of mutants not far from him, maybe seventy metres away. The mutants seems so organized as a group and they move as a group which surprises Ghost. Maybe the president was right all along. Slowly the mutants gain intellect by learning how to survive and adapt to any odds. But the bad news is that the mutants are moving towards the entrance of the lair where he waited for John. He takes out his rifle and patiently wait. Suddenly there's a sound coming from the lair which attract the mutants. The sound keep getting closer and closer and he's not sure what to do. He switch his aim toward the lair and wait. Then he can hear John's voice. He shines toward the lair's entrance and he saw a faint figure. Is it John? Or just another mutant. Slowly the figure keep getting closer. This time he sure that it is John and he brought someone with him.
John : RUN!
Ghost : Huh?
John : Get the fuck out of here!
John and a woman emerge from the cave. John took out his rifle and shoot. The mutants that Ghost spotted are alerted to the gunshot and run toward them. Ghost shoot the advancing horde without realizing another group of mutants is coming toward them. The woman snatch John's pistol from his belt and kill the mutants.
John : Seal the entrance!
Ghost is wiring the explosion as John taking down the mutants. The bomb explode and the cave is sealed by the collapsing rubble. The group make their way back to the town and rush the young man that carried by the woman to the paramedic camp. The doctor rips the man's shirt off and start to patch up the wounds. The woman watches as she couldn't do anything but pray. John approaches her.
John : Lena?
Woman : How did you know my name?
John hugs her and cry.
John : Thanks god...
Lena : H-h-hey...
John : Its me....
Lena look at him as she barely recognize the man that know her. She grabs John's arm and look at this tattoo.
Lena : Dad?!
John : I promised you and Jake that I'll find no matter w-
Lena hugs John tightly and she begin to cry. John pat her head and embrace the reunion with his kids. They went to the bar and found themselves a table. She just stare at John and smile. John reply.
Lena : Where's mother?
John : She...ah...She's dead.
Lena : .....
John : Was that Jake you carried?
Lena : Yes....
John : Why did you and him try to er-
Lena : To make the government won't do the sam-
John : Why?
Lena : We joined the resistance and we have no choice since. Our base got raid by raiders ten weeks ago and killed most of us. We were separated. We ran as fast as we can, as far as we can. Until we found this town. There's been a talk about the mutant's lair not far from here and we're decided to destroy it so that we'll able to settle here until-
John : For the last fifteen years I've been looking for both of you and I saw a lot. It's best not to trust anyone.
Lena : I was five and Jake was ten when you left us.
John : I never le-
Lena : And mother was killed...
John : I want to mak-
Lena : Now you tell us not to trust anyone? How would we survive without each other.
John : I survived for fifteen years, alone!
Lena : We were just a kid! [slam the table] I'm sorry, dad. It just that it's hard for us for the last fifteen years.
John take out the photo from his jacket.
John : Here.
Lena : You still have it, huh?
John : Since that day. I went back to our house and bury your mother there.
Ghost walks into the bar and signal John that Jake has awake. They went to the camp and Jake is sitting with bandages all over his torso. The doctor said it was just a scratch, except that there's dozen of scratches. Lena introduces John to Jake and suddenly Jake went wild. He push John to the ground and yell at him.
Jake : Where the fuck have you been, dad?!
John : Jake, I'm sor-
Jake : For fifteen fucking years...
John : I tried everything, I went everywhere
Jake : For fifteen years we can't sleep at night, for fifteen years we saw things, for fifteen years you left us alone in this hell.
John : I always hope that you and Lena are alive and now you are.
Jake : For the last fifteen years, I always thought you're already dead.
Lena : Jake!
Jake walk away from the camp and Lena follows him afterward, leaving John and Ghost alone with the doctor. Ghost then have a conversation with the doctor as they knew each other. John overheard the conversation and asking them what they know about the DIE virus. The doctor says that Jake might been infected through the wounds but show no sigh of mutation which is odd. Usually the victim would take only seconds to turn but Jake still alive and well. Suddenly, a helicopter can be heard from distance. The alarm is raised and everyone went hiding while the guards are manning their post. Soon, the helicopter hover above the town and soldiers are descending without firing any guns. John rush towards the site and soon he saw Jake and Lena was standing infront of man dressed in a suit.
Man : I'm here today is looking for someone named Jake McGrady.
Jake : Why?
Man : You must be Jake if you're asking why. Come with me. Any resistance will result in deadly force.
Jake : You won't kill me cause you want me and you need me.
Man : Hmph. [Took out gun and shoot directly at Jake]
Jake : Missed.
Man : Am I?
Jake turn around and he saw John lie down on the ground with blood sprouting out from his chest. Lena rush toward his father as he's bleeding. The guards then shoot a warning shot and asking them to leave.
Man : Alright. Seems like you against the government.
Jake : I'LL KILL YOU!
Lena : Jake, don't!
The man and soldiers soon aboard the helicopter and left. Jake lift his dying father and run back toward the medical camp. He lie him down on the bed and the doctor start the surgery. The doctor manage to remove the bullet from his chest but the doctor sense that his pulse is getting weaker and the doctor started to pump his chest for heartrate. They can't do anything to watch as their father is fighting for his own life. Jake regrets every words he said the last time he talk to him was a fight. He hugs his crying sister as they hopelessly watching their father leaving them.
