His own boss is pointing his gun directly at his head. Bang. Slowly the world he see is getting darker and the sound is fainting away. Soon, the darkness veils his sight. Is this how it feels? Death. Religions were telling those who believe that there would be heaven for the decent and hell for the sinners. For Lars, it's nothing but darkness. But then, suddenly voices is slowly reaching for his ear.
"The subject...." "Condition....."
Where did the voices come from? Slowly, he opens his eyes and he saw two scientists are chatting to each other while holding a file. As he exhales his breathe, water bubbles appear infront of him. He lift his hand and try to reach for the scientist but both of his hands were stuck against a glass. When he look down, are all over his body. He was in a tube. He screams but the scream is muffled by the water that filling his tube.

Scientist#1 : The subject has awaken. Scientist#2 : Proceed to the next stage. Lars : [muffle] Hey! Let me-
The president enter the lab and approach the tube where Lars was held.
President : How are you? Lars : Let me go! You traitor! Son of a bi- President : Put him back to sleep Scientist#2 : The subject will be tranquilized in three, two, one... Lars : HEY!
Lars passed out and everything went black.
President : How was the subject? Scientist#1 : Positive result, sir. The subject's DNA had shown a great interaction with the virus and everything is according to the plan. President : Good. Scientist#1 : What about subject K-12? President : He's...Let's just say that he's busy right now. Scientist#2 : And the McGrady? President : Soon we'll find out.
Karl enter the lab and looking at Lars. He clenches his fist as he was too angry to see his friend is suffering and betrayed by his boss.
President : What's with the moody face, kid? Karl : Nothing, sir.
As they are leaving the lab, Karl stop.
Karl : Sir, permission to speak freely. President : Go on. Karl : Do you have to sir? He's one of your best and he- President : And so do you. He's getting older and careless. Karl : But he's my friend! President : Listen here, kid. In this world, there are no friends or family. Not anymore. It's only you and yourself. Fight and survive. [grab] And watch your fucking tone. Karl : ....yes sir.
The president let him go and proceed to his main office. He sits on his comfy chair and stare out to the window.
President : Hypocrites. Demand changes but unwilling to sacrifice. It's time for them to face the world. For centuries we're living a lie. A world of full of fakeness and pretenders. Let they know that only the strong will survive and the weak shall perish.
The president pick up his cigar and light it.
President : The politics are full of old geezers and forcing the young to fight for their country. The old men getting older watching the young men die. For nothing.
He flicks the tip of his cigar ashes off.
President : They tried to overturn the nature's cycle by outliving their young, and little they know that would slowly angers the mother's nature. Protecting home they said.
He placed his cigar on ashtray and get off his chair.
President : It's time for them to face the nature's wrath.
Days passed and soon Lars regained his consciousness. But he saw the lab was in total mess. Bloods, bodies are everywhere. To his horror, a mutant suddenly appeared at the entrance and glance directly into his eyes. Luckily, Karl was there in time and slice the mutant with his katana.

He reach for the control and release Lars from the tube. He gives Lars a guns and his suit.
Karl : Quick, we gotta to go fast. Lars : What happened? Karl : I hacked through the security and released all the mutants from the confinement. Lars : If he found out. Karl : He won't. He and Baz already left this building hours ago and I took this chance to save you. Lars : S-s-something is wrong with my eyes... Karl : Huh? Lars : I..I can see through the...wall? There are mutants coming straight to us. Karl : Quick, this way.
They escaped through the ventilating system and somehow reached outside of the compound. A truck is parked nearby and Karl gave Lars the key.
Lars : Come with me. Karl : I have to stay. Lars : Karl! Karl : We'll meet again, trust me. Lars : ....alright. Karl : Go to a town down south where a small group of survivors are settling down. Go there and look for a girl named Renee. Lars : Alright. Karl : And one more thing. Find Jake McGrady. He's our only hope.
