"Er, hi?"

When I was nervous everything came out like a question. It didn't matter if I was asking how their day went or if I was telling them how I was feeling. I was an anxious mess.

"Hi!" The unfamiliar blond boy smiled brightly at me; almost disregarding the fact I was fidgeting like crazy.

"Can I just get an Iced Americano with 8 raw sugars? Please?" Again, with the questions.

His eyes lit up just barely, "Oh! You're her! Susan told me about you."

"What? She did?" I asked almost in a panic.

"Yep, she said you'd come in around this time too. I'm Taylor."

I stared at him and shook my head in disbelief. I mean, I knew I was a regular to this shop but I didn't know I was known by name with the employees. Or for god sake, told about to new ones, "Oh uh, Savannah?"

He chuckled and wrote along the side of my cup, "Do you always end your sentences with question marks?"

That snapped me out of my nervous daze for a moment, "Sorry. No, I'm just... I'm bad at talking to others? I think? Oh god, there it goes again." I made a helpless gesture towards him before mentally chastising myself.

Taylor laughed again and nodded towards the other end of the counter, "Come down there."

I walked parallel with him to the other end, "So, you just started then?"

"Yep, Monday morning. It's pretty nice; I like Susan."

I smiled, "Yeah, she's sweet. I love coming in to talk with her before heading to work."

"Oh yeah? Where do you work?"

"Down the street at the corner bookstore. It's not as fun as it sounds."

He chuckled, "But you get to work with all those books. It's an adventure behind every cover."

"Yeah, I guess that's true. But god, you wouldn't believe how angry some people get over books. I'm talking yelling angry."

"Whaaaat? Really?" Taylor drug out the word into a high-pitched sound; making me giggle,

"I'm serious. My customer service though is through the roof."

"Yeah?"

"You bet, kid."

Taylor quirked his head at me, "Who you calling kid? Kid?"

"And you say I put question marks at the end of my sentences."

He shook his head and handed me my drink, "Fair point."

I laughed, realizing any anxious feeling I had, had dissipated quite quickly, "I'll see you later then, yeah?"

"Again, with the questions."

I rolled my eyes and waved to him as I left the store. He was funny, and suddenly I wasn't so tongue tied anymore.
