Chapter 28: Mist of fear

< Luna's POV>
After we got inside castle, Dad already got on his pod and went back to Earth, the others already went to their rooms and took a rest, Allura launched the ship and we left the prisoner planet. I was in the infimary waiting for Keith to wake up in the cryo-pod, he didn't say that I should wait for him, I just waited for him by myself, Like I said, I'm gonna give back the things he gave to me, So I stayed there and waited for him, it took long so I changed my clothes first, wearing a white sando and topped it with a purple polo and for the bottoms I weared blue jeans and weared black boots, and went back on the infirmary, I sat on the stairs as I wait for Keith to wake up, then he's pod beeped and showed that his time in the cryo pod is almost over, then he's pod opened and walked out of the pod, " Hey, are you ok now?" I asked, " yeah.. How long have you've been waiting here?" He asked and looked at me, " hm... 2 hours.." I answered and gave him his jacket, really, I've been waiting for 2 hours doing nothing, " Really? You didn't have to wait for me.." He said while putting his jacket on, " Yeah.. But I don't have things to do yet so I just went here" I said, " Thanks, and by the way, Why are you dressed like that?" He asked and we walked out of the infirmary, so we talked while we're walking, "nothing.. Just looks good" I answered, " have you even ate yet?" He asked, " No, not really.." I said, " Then let's eat.." He said, Then we went to the commisary, you know.. It just got to me that, Keith and I never really had a dinner just the two of us before we became a thing, so it just felt like it was when we ate, while we were eating, it was full of silence, and I noticed that, It's like someone is looking at me, then I looked at Keith to see if it's him, and it is him, I caught him looking at me, " What is it? Something wrong?" I asked, " Oh, Nothing, it's just.. Your outfit looks great on you" He said and smiled at me, " shut up.." I said because it came to me as if he's teasing me, I got used to that because of Reil, " No, Really, you look great.." He said it more, I blushed because I'm not used being called like that, he laughed for that, then red lights started flashing, " wonder what's wrong?" I asked, " Come one, let's see" Keith said and we went to the control room, " what is it Allura?" I asked,then the others came here too, " The boosters are damaged because of earlier in the prison, we can't activate them for a long time or they'll overheat" Allura answered, " Sorry.." I said and frowned, it's because when I was controlled, I must've hit the boosters because of firing blasts, " Hey, it's not your fault.." Keith said, " Yeah, you were controlled, you can't blame yourself" Lance added, " Thanks.." I said, " we must land to fix them immediately," Allura said, then we landed on the nearest planet to us, it looks like Earth... " We'll go down to fix the boosters" Allura said, " I'll help" I said and stepped forward, " no it's ok, you and paladins faced much because of earlier, Me and Coran can handle this on our own" Allura said, " Are you sure?" Shiro asked, " Yes, you can stroll the planet as well if you like, no one seems to be living in this planet" Allura answered, " cool, Hey Luna, how about a skateboard challenge, the one who loses cooks for everyone for dinner.." Lance said, " Sure.." I said and smirked, " Mind if I join?" Keith asked, " sure, the more the merrier" I said and smiled, " Yeah, I'll join too" Hunk said, " How about you two?" Lance asked Pidge and Shiro, " Meh, we'll just watch" Pidge said, Her family is resting in her room after what happened, they maybe exhausted after that, " you guys go, I'll get the boards" I said and headed to my room, as I said they went on ahead, when I got the boards, I quickly ran outside, the air is refreshing, " Catch!" I said and threw the other board to Lance, " Got it!" Lance said, " Here, this is your boards.." I said and also gave one to Hunk and Keith, " Thanks.." They both said, " come on Luna, we'll go first" Lance said and prepared his board, " What kind of challenge are you even saying?" I asked, " how about an obstacle race?" He asked, " Sure, but where are the obstacles?" I asked, " You can make one" Lance said, " fine.." I said, then I used my power and raised rocks from the ground shaping them to be enough like an obstacle, " The one that finishes the obstacle and first to pass the finish line is the winner" I said, " Hunk, can you be our referee for a sec?" Lance asked, " sure!" Hunks answered, " Ready? Get set... Go!" He said and we started the race, I sprinted and dodged the obstacles and leading the race and about to win, and.. I think I saw someone from the afar so I stopped moving my board, " I win!" Lance cheered, I'm still looking at the person, " Hey! Space to Luna! Are you there?" Lance bluffed, " No wait, Allura said no one lives in this planet right?" I asked, " Yeah, why ask?" Keith said, " I can feel people's energy on that mountain.." I said and pointed on the mountain, " really?" Lance asked, " Yeah.. They're so many, about 30 maybe.." I said, " Come on, let's go and see" Shiro said and went inside the castle to get his lion, then we went to get our's too, when we got them, I lead the way to the energy of the people, then the others saw them now, it looks like their villagers, and we went down from our lions, " Who are you people?" One of the villagers asked, " We are the paladins of voltron" Shiro answered, " Voltron? Maybe you can help us.." The villager said, " Help on what?" Shiro asked, " On the past few suns, some of our villagers from the mountain has returned here without a soul, they came back all pale and crying" the villager answered, " Why?" I asked, " that's the thing we still don't know, the villagers that returned from the mountain has spoken nothing since they came back.." The villager said, then we heard some of the villagers shouting, " Help! Somebody Help!" A villager shouted from near the mountain, then we ran there and saw a 2 villagers, one being chased by another, wait, the other has a knife?! " Please help me!" The one being chased said and went on Shiro's back, then the other with a knife stopped then growled and charged to Shiro and shouted.. " Must kill all GALRA!!", then I ran in front of them and made a barrier, and suprisingly, the villager's knife has druid magic.. But how come? Then I made a bright flash to blind him, and locked him in my barrier, " What just happened?" Lance asked looking all confused, " I don't know, but I think this guy has druid magic.." I said, " Druid magic? The one that your brother talked about?" Keith asked, " yeah, exactly.." I said, then the villager that outraged woke up, " wait, what happened? Where am I?" It asked, " You don't remember?" Shiro asked, " The only thing I remembered is I saw my wife on the cave and it's all a blur.." It answered, then the other villagers murmured, " Papa!" One villager yelled and went to the guy, " Oh, Felline, your mother is alive, she's still living, we must find her.." The guy said and held his daughter's hand, " dad? Mom's gone.. you saw her died.. So why are you saying that she's alive??" The girl asked so confused, " No, Felline, your mother is alive and breathing.. Believe me, we must find her" the guy said again, then the girl started getting scared to her father, " why are you backing down?! We must find her!" The guy said and held her daughter on the shirt and raised her, the girl started crying, " Stop it!" I said and stopped him, and grabbed the girl away from her father, " You don't know what your doing?! I must find my wife with my daughter! She's ali--" he said but before he finishes, I used my power to make him sleep, " Papa?!" The girl said and ran to the guy, " Don't worry, he's just asleep.." I said, " Wonder what's wrong with that guy.." Hunk asked himself, " Can I ask? When did your mother died?" I asked the girl, " she died because of a landslide.. Dad saw her get squashed by a boulder, the villagers found her body and buried her on the nearby hill.." The girl answered, " What did that guy just saw?" Lance asked, " Maybe you can look through him.." Shiro said and looked at me, " Me?" I asked, " Yeah, when we first met, your brother didn't belive that I was a paladin, and he said to let him see through me, and you did something to me back then and you saw sort of things.." Shiro explained, " yeah.. But it hurts both me and the person I'm doing it too.. I don't want to hurt anyone.." I said and frowned, " Don't worry, dad won't feel a thing.." The girl said, and I agreed and read his mind, I saw his memories, what a nice family.. Wait that's it! His in the mountain and saw his wife.. Wait, somethings wrong, she's really there but.. Somethings strange about her.. Then I unwilledly went over the memories and saw pain and fears, made my head ache so bad! Then I stopped looking through him, " Huff.. Huff.. Huff..." I huffed while sitting on the ground, " Are you ok?" Keith asked, " yeah.. The guy is telling the truth, he saw his wife but.." I said and looked down, " But what?" Shiro asked, " there's something strange, it doesn't feel like the wife is real.." I said with a confused face," but how can that happen?" Pidge asked, " Maybe the legend.. Is true.." The girl said, " what legend?" Shiro asked, " the legend of the mourning mist... It says that, if a person enters the mist of that mountain, without leaving all his doubts and regret, fear and any negativity, the mist will consume the man that don't leave all those things on the past, the mist will never give them back from where they came from, if it ever does, the soul of the man has been long gone.." The girl said, then Lance and Hunk shivered on fear, " That story gives me the creeps.." Lance said, " So it's the mountain itself huh?" I asked myself and looked at the mountain, " Legend huh?" I asked myself, " Other villagers is still there in the mines, they must be trapped in the mountain.." A villager said, " yeah.. There's 3 warm energies in there, that's the villagers" I said while feeling there energy signature, " Paladins, Luna! Where are you?! 3 galra ships are entering the planet's orbit, you need to stop it!" Allura reported, " but the villagers in the mountain.." I said to myself, " Ok, this is the plan, Hunk, Lance, try and stop the ships that are attacking, Luna, protect the village from getting hit, While Keith, Pidge and I go and get the villagers in the mountain, got it?" Shiro said, " Me: got it! Lance: of course! Hunk: ten-four! Pidge: on it! Keith: I'm with it!" We agreed, then Hunk and Lance went outside the village to stop the attacking ships, " Be careful ok?" I asked Keith, " Ok" Keith replied with a smile, then they went up in the mountains using their speeder, while I protect the village, why am I always the one protecting? Then I saw a cave on on the bottom of the village, " Everyone get to the cave!" I said to the villagers, the villagers agreed and went inside, the villagers were scared and trembling, I won't let them be scared, I left my people once, I'm gonna do it twice! " It's ok, your safe in here" I said to make them feel better, " Ray?! Where's my son?!" A villager called out, then I saw a boy taking cover on a stone while the attack is happening, " Ray!" The villager called out again, " Stay here!" I said to the villagers and went outiside to get the villager's son, when I got to the boy a fire ball was about to hit the cave, but I managed to put a barrier from afar, then I picked up the boy and went back to the cave, " Ray, thank goodness" The mother said and hugged her son... I'm not gonna make the same mistake all over again.. Then I activated my barrier in the whole village to prevent the village and the villagers from getting hit, I hope Keith is alright, I don't have a good feeling with him in the mountain...
