Harry's POV:
I stood there, feeling vulnerable and open, feeling my heart slowly split in two.
My name.
I had been waiting. My name hadn't been called.
I was out of the competition.
Slowly, I felt tears welling up in my eyes and anything I attempted to do to stop it didn't help them from spilling all over my face.
But there was one thing that kept me from losing it all.
Louis hadn't made it through either.
I know, you're supposed to be supportive of your best friend, but it was hard when the two of you were going head-to-head against each other in a battle.
His face was tear-stained as well, but he still kept his composure.
Me and a few other contestants who hadn't gotten through sulked over to the side of the stage.
I sat down on a chair, hunched over, sobbing.
"It's ok, Harry. You should've made it through." Louis comforted.
I sniffed and shrugged. "You should have too."
He nodded and sat down next to me, silent.
We watched as the contestants who had made it to the next round looked at us with pity, which made my insides swell up.
Why did this have to happen to me? Shouldn't I be the one that is giving these looks to other people? Why am I on the receiving end?
I felt like my brain was a tennis ball that was getting hit back and forth in my mind.
"You okay?" Louis asked, raising an eyebrow.
I nodded and wiped the layer of sweat that was building on my forehead away.
I got up to leave and Louis was about to follow when a man came up to us and started to speak.
"The judges have requested that the following people go back onstage." He said, reading a piece of paper.
I stood up straighter as he began to read off names.
"Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson," He stopped and I thought he was done.
I felt my shoulders deflate as whatever opportunity that was waiting for me I would never get to see.
"Oh, and Harry Styles." The man said, giving me an apologetic look and gesturing for the five of us to follow him.
I walked back out on the stage for the second time that night.
"Hello, boys." Simon Cowell said, breaking the silence between us. "We have all come to a decision."
I clenched my fists together, hoping that whatever was coming would be good, or at least better than the circumstances before.
"We have decided..." He said, pausing and taking a deep breath. "We have decided to put you all through," he smiled. "Together, as a band."
Suddenly, five boys who were complete strangers jumped up and hugged each other tightly.
"We made it!" Louis yelled to me.
I laughed. "We did!"
I hugged the three boys that I did not yet know and congratulated them.
After we had been herded off stage and had calmed down, I looked at the four wide-eyed boys in front of me.
"What just happened?" I asked, smiling tiredly.
Louis shrugged, and grinned twice as big as me, it seemed as if his face was going to shatter. "I have no idea."
The other boys laughed, slightly nervously.
One of the three that I didn't know who had curly hair like me stepped forward.
"How are we going to, you know, become a..." He waved his has around. "Group? Boyband? Whatever we are?"
"Let's start with this," I said, sticking out my hand. "Hi, I'm Harry."
••••••••••••••••••••
Hey guys!
I have a question that is not about the story at all!
Okay, so there's this boy I like who is really cute and athletic and ahhhh, but one of my best friends likes him too, but I think he might like me? What if he does, and I do too? I still haven't told her that I kind of like him, but I don't think I should have to say no (IF he asks me out, which he probably won't) just because she likes him as well.
Please comment any advice!
Lots of love and an almost Happy New Year!
