Just FYI I changed something in the chapter before last, but it's like one really small detail.
______________
I stepped out of the meeting hall, and I could taste the tension in the air. Everyone was on edge, because of the orders that were likely being given out at that moment. I made my way to my office, seeing as I had no where else to be. I saw a, probably, very new recruit who stiffened and tred really hard to get out of my way as I walked down the hall.
I tried to get him to stop being do uptight, but he wouldn't listen to me so I stopped trying. I made my way to my office, seeing as I said I would be there if anyone needed me. There was no one waiting for me outside my office, thank goodness, but there could be people waiting soon. I hope that that isn't as soon as it could be.
I slid into my chair in the middle of a desk, a stack of papers greeted me. I sighed paperwork; my favorite. I looked outside and saw that the sun was beginning to slip down, I put down a piece of paperwork I was about to fill out and went out on my balcony.
A cool breeze greeted me, I breathed in the fresh air. Smells nice. I looked around at my encampment, work on permanent residences began last week and they were looking good so far. The gate was visible from here, I looked up at it. I could see some people beginning to congregate in that area, getting ready to close the double gates.
I frowned, I didn't like that I had to do this but I really didn't have any other options. The squids could be planning anything. The gate began to slowly lower, I could imagine the clinking sounds of chains being manipulated as the heavy slabs of wood that represent the gates where lowered closer to the ground. The touched the gound with a loud *TUMB* I could here it from way out here. I shook myself out of my trance, welp back to paperwork!
I made my way back to my desk as I was suddenly hit with a powerful wave of deja vu. It was so bad that I had to grab onto something in-order to try and not fall to the floor. I blinked and shook my head, attempting to dispel the feeling but it held on.
I could feel my vision begin to grow dark, oh gosh am I going to black out? I nearly fell off the side of my desk, but Seto's magic caught me. I breathed a sigh of relief and twinged, I need to focus on not blacking out right now.
I saw Seto's lips moving, but I couldn't hear anything comeing out of them. I looked at him for a second before shaking my head and pointing to my ears. He seemed to understand and nodded, he pursed his lips before pointing to the door and then miming sleep. I thought for a bit, and said something. I couldn't hear what I said, but I knew that I was making some sort of sound.
"Bed?" I said. Seto nodded, I tapped my chin in thought for a bit before nodding. Passing out in my office would help no one.
Seto then used his purple magic to carry me too my bedroom, thankfully none of the recruits saw us.
By the time we got to my room, I could hear again. Which is good, because not being able to hear on the battle field is like asking for a death sentence. Once we were inside the room I told Seto that I could hear again.
He breathed a sigh of relief before muttering under his breath "Thank goodness, I do not want to deal with another deaf person." I cocked my head but said nothing. I don't think he meant for me to hear that.
"Hey Sky?" He asked, putting me on my bed.
"Ya?"
"What happened?"
I furrowed my brow at him "What do you mean?"
"Why did you almost pass out?" I looked at him skeptically.
"How did you know I was about to pass out?"
He shrugged and sat down next to me "Lucky guess?"
I narrowed my eyes at him, but I let it go. "Ok, I believe you."
"Sky your avoiding the question."
"What? Phss, naw!" I waved my hand at him "Not at all."
"Then do you have an answer?"
"Corse."
"What is it then?"
I honestly have no idea why, but I had the sudden compulsion to lie to him. There was really no logical explanation for it. "Well... I had gone out to my balcony to watch the gate close, and when I was on my way back to my desk I was suddenly hit by the overwhelming sense of déjà vu. It was so strong that I had to grab on to something. And well you know the rest." He narrowed his eyes skeptically.
"Is that really all?"
"Ya, that's literally all that happened, I swear." I was thoroughly confused.
Seto pressed his mouth into a thin line, and began rummaging in his bag. I looked over his shoulder "Whatcha lookin for?" He glared at me, before pulling out a leather bound book. It looked like a journal, or notebook.
"This." He simply stated, before waving it around and slamming it down in front of me on the buttery bed.
I looked at it, and then back up at him. "What do you want me to do with it?"
He folded him arms across his chest "Open it, I wanted you to read it."
"Why." I had gotten the leather strap half off, and I gestured with the book in my hand.
He shrugged "It could be interesting to you. And I was having trouble deciphering the language its written in and I was hoping you could help me." I looked at him "Cause I had heard that you know more than one written language and...." He trailed off and looked to the side.
I looked at him curiously before opening the book fully and flipping to the first page. I narrowed my eyes at him "What do you mean you're having a hard time deciphering this?" He looked up at me in shock I showed the page to him "This is in Minecraftian." His expression morphed to one of pure shock and dread, and he snatched the book out of my hands before I could read anymore. I let out a cry of shock and dismay "Hey!"
"Sorry..." He wrapped the book back up with shaky hands and stuffed it back into his pack.
He rushed to the door, but stopped before opening it. He stood there for a minute before speaking again "Sky, the language in that book is a dead language. No its deader than dead. It is said that only one subculture knows about it anymore."
"What's that culture?" I moved to get off the bed.
He looked back at me with bloodshot eyes "Brine, and there is only one person from that culture left...." He glupped "Herobrine."
