Road trip
Chapter 9
The day has finally come that we were all waiting for..
Winter Vacation.
After a week full of torturous finals and stress, it was finally time to relax. At least thats what I thought me and my brothers would be doing until my parents surprised us with their presence the next morning.
"Guys! We're home!" My mothers loud voice boomed through the house. Jacob, Josh, Casey and I looked at each other with confusion. They weren't supposed to be home til' the end of the month.
"Kids?" My dad called.
"We're in here!" I yelled. My parents appeared in front of the flat screen in the loft, blocking our view of a recent episode of 'Ridiculousness'.
"Casey dear, turn off the TV. We have some exciting news to announce!" Being over joyed, my mom clapped her hands together and me and my brothers groaned.
"So me and your father have decided to come home early for the holidays."
"Ya we noticed." Casey groaned. It wasn't that we didn't love having them home, it was just that they were those parents that wanted everything to do with their children and they would always fry us with questions when they were home. Luckily, they were workaholics and always went on business trips.
"Casey, watch the attitude. Or no playing outside." My father snapped, which made me giggle. Oh, did I mention my parents were terrible at punishing?
"Dad, Im not 5.. I don't play outside anymore." Casey said, making my father shut his mouth.
"Anyways... We came home early for the holidays and we will be taking a road trip to Los Angeles!"
"Seriously? Thats awesome!" Jacob yelled.
Obviously, Jacob had no idea what he was getting into. You see, Jacob and Joshua have never taken a road trip with my parents. But me and Casey know exactly why this was a terrible idea.
When I was 12 and Casey was 13 we took a road trip to Oregon and the whole trip was spent singing The Beatles and playing lame I-Spy games. Can you imagine the torture?
Casey locked eyes with me and I swear at that moment, we had some weird sibling telepathy, because his eyes said it all.
Torture.
"Casey, Lacey, what do you think of this?" Dad asked.
"I think I'll stay home." Casey mumbled.
"No, this trip is mandatory." Mom said.
"Mom! Why? I hate car rides!" I grumbled. The twins looked at each other, confused.
"I don't care Lacey. You both are going and thats final. Oh and we have a tag along this time."
"Mom, what do you mean 'tag along'?" Josh asked, putting air quotes around tag along.
"Oh one of our co-workers son will be joining us as his parents have a mandatory business trip they need to attend." Dad said, while brewing himself a fresh cup of coffee.
"How old is he?" Jacob asked.
When will these two stop asking questions?!
"About Lacey's age."
That got my attention.
"Whats his name...?" I asked, curiously.
"I dont know everything Lacey May! Enough of the questions!" Mom snapped, making me shut up and shuffle up to my room.
