Lacey's P.O.V

~DREAM~

I was seated on a red and white checkered picnic blanket, quietly watching on as Carter set up our little picnic. It wasn't a date, he just invited me as friends so we could get to know each other better. His picnic plan was super corny, but cute, so I just agreed and went along with it.

"Sandwiches, peanut butter and banana, your favorite. Some Coke, some grapes, a bag of BBQ chips, and of course, Skittles!' he listed off what he had packed.

At first I was creeped out because, seriously, how did he know all this stuff about me? Did I mumble in my sleep? But after I got passed the creepiness, I began to love how sweet and considerate he was. Carter was going out of his way to be considerate and to get to know me. He handed me a sandwich, which I gladly took and unwrapped it. I sunk my teeth into the sandwich and closed my eyes, peanut butter and banana was the best combination ever!

"So, Lacey, I know I'm not your most favorite person in the world and I know it's my fault but I want to change that. Lacey, I like you, a lot. That day in the field was a huge lie, I didn't mean any of that. Lacey Brook, will you be my girlfriend?'

~END OF DREAM~

"LACEY, CARTER WAKE UP! WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING?" I heard Casey shouting outside of our door. Wow, nice to know my brother totally doesn't trust me. Well maybe he trusted me, he just wasn't a huge fan of our sleeping arrangements. I swung my legs over the side of the bed, slid my feet into my fuzzy purple slippers, and shuffled over to the door. Unfortunately, I caught my reflection in the mirror on the way over. Wow... was all I could think. I looked like I hadn't slept in three days and I wasn't feeling the greatest on the inside either.

"What do you want, Casey?" I asked calmly as I opened the door.

"I wanted to make sure Carter wasn't planning on like kidnapping you or something. I don't trust that kid and I don't know what got into you last night. I thought you hated his guts and then you ask him to share a room with you. I..."

"Calm down, Casey. Nothing happened at all. I swear. You know I'm not like that and I wouldn't let him do anything to me. I only offered because I figured I might as well try and get along with him since it seems like he'll be around for a while. And look..." I said, gesturing to where Carter was still spread out across his bed, "He's still asleep."

"Damn, he must be a heavy sleeper. Either that or I wasn't loud enough." he mused with a smirk on his lips.

"Oh trust me, you were loud enough and I think he's just a heavy sleeper. He's been snoring like a bear all night. Hey...you know what? We could have a little fun with this." I said, returning his smirk.

"What do you have in mind, lil sis?" he asked almost immediately. Boys and their stupid love of pranks. But this was going to be fun.

I looked over to Casey and waited for his signal. With a slight nod of his head, we both tilted the bucket of ice water and dumped it on Carter's head. Almost immediately, he literally jumped up out of bed and ended up with his ass on the floor. Casey and I tried so hard not to laugh but we both realized that wasn't going to work. We were both rolling around on the floor while Carter watched us with a bright red face and a soaking wet body. Finally, we both calmed down and wiped away the tears that were falling.

"What the heck was that for?! I was sleeping if you couldn't fucking tell." he grumbled, crossing his arms and glaring at us.

"Hey, you were the one snoring so loud that I couldn't sleep. And besides it was Casey's idea." I snapped back, returning his glare.

"No way, Lace! That hurts, putting all the blame on me." Casey jumped in, faking hurt.

Deciding not to take this any further than this, I pushed myself off the floor and went to grab my clothes so I could shower and get ready. I half ran across the room with my clothes over my arm and went into the bathroom. But just as I reached for the handle a large, warm hand covered mine and pried my hand off of the knob. My body felt like it was on fire and I knew whose hand it was before I looked up. My jade green eyes connected with his ocean blue ones causing me to shiver. I was hoping he didn't notice but unfortunately luck was never on my side.

"You alright, Lace? You've got goosebumps and you're just like staring at me." he told me, removing his hand from over mine. As much as I didn't want to, I couldn't help but let out a quiet whimper from the loss of contact. What is wrong with me? I've never been all jumpy and girly around guys before. That was until Carter Freaking Hunt decided to walk into my life. Well more like climbed out of a well and into it, but you get what I'm saying.

"Uh-uh yeah I-I'm fine. But if you don't mind, I'm gonna go get a shower so you can go now." I stuttered. Gosh, Lacey, get your shit together.

"Don't let me stop you. Please, continue whatever it was you were going to try."he said with a mischievous smirk on his lips. I felt myself start turning red and quickly turned around so he wouldn't see.

"Ha-ha, very funny. Get out, Carter." I snapped while pretending to look over my reflection. I heard him huff and stomp away, pouting like a little kid.

With one last check to make sure my hair was completely straight, I grabbed my phone off the counter and walked out to the mini kitchen that was in our room. I wonder how much extra these bigger rooms are costing us. Carter and Casey had disappeared so I was all alone in my room. I considered going down to the lobby to check out the breakfast buffet but I wasn't really hungry and I really didn't feel like seeing Carter after what happened this morning. While I was looking through my snack bag that I had packed (yeah, I did that) I heard the door slam shut and looked up to see Carter standing in the door frame. There was something in his eyes that I had never seen before, but what? Figuring it wasn't important, I went back to finding a mini breakfast and didn't pay attention when Carter started walking over to join me.

When I had finally settled on a granola bar and some water, I was about to pick them up when I felt two toned, tan, and muscular arms holding me around my waist. I didn't dare to move or even breathe, I just stood there soaking in the feeling of him. After a few minutes of just standing there, he gently took the food from my hands and spun me around to face him. I knew what was coming and I was okay with it. Let's face it, I'm in love with Carter Hunt. Without my permission, my arms draped around his neck and his hands found my waist, pulling me to him. I stood on my tiptoes and met him halfway, our lips just barely touching.

He pulled back and said the nine words that I've always wanted to hear from this guy, "I think I'm in love with you." he whispered to me.

I was about to say something when Jacob suddenly burst through our door, looking like he had just seen a ghost.

"Jake, what is it?" I asked quickly.

"Lacey, it's Josh. He's missing."
