Chapter 1 - Spirits POV.
Running from the stone cold body of my latest victim, my paws and snout coated in dried blood and my thoughts scrambled. I was worried that I would be caught by the cops again, last time I was only small and got away with a self defence charge but this time was very, very different.
I was so distracted that I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings, thick dense forest and not much light getting through the thick canopy above; I ran straight into someones leg. Whimpering, I flinched back a little before regaining my composure.
Then baring my teeth and standing my ground, I looked up at the tall figure of a man, dressed sharply in a black suit, black tie and a crisp white, freshly pressed shirt with a small drop of crimson on the collar. He had no face and from his hands, my big sister Ghost dangled helplessly, in her human form. Her baggy blue hoodie nearly reached her knees and she was very, very underweight. It had been a cold, harsh winter the year before. But our metabolism never caught up even though we had a successful summer. When the moonlight broke through, it almost reflected off Ghosts pale face, showing her fear.
He looked down at me, the back up at Ghost. He dropped her onto the muddy ground, she politely thanked the man and came closer to me. "We need to go with him, he said he would look after us and keep us away from danger." Ghost explained softly, keeping her panic out of her voice. The sirens and crashes of the search behind us getting louder and closer.
Refusing to shift into human form, I nodded my head at her. Knowingly, she nodded back and shifted too. Her dark grey fur nearly blended into the forest. She always found it easier to hide in the darkness. After following the man with no face for about an hour, we came up to a three story house which was painted black with matching black windows, a dark wooden porch, a big front door and a child's swing, that hung from the large oak tree in the front garden.
Cute... I thought to myself as we climbed up the steps of the porch, our nails scratched the wood. I can smell a dog... I used the pack link, there were only two of us in the pack since we had no others. She lifted her head to catch the scent, well stench, of the dog.
The tall man opened the front door and behind it was exactly what we expected. A dog growled at us both, Ghost bared her teeth at the dog, showing it to leave her alone. So the dog lunged towards me instead, trying to defend its home. It was quicj but I was quicker. I grabbed the dog by the throat with my teeth, pinning it down on the floor, saying I was not afraid to kill it.
No one made a noise, it was just a bunch of growls and snarls until the dog subsided and lay still for a while. Not dead, it had given up and submitted.
"Hey Slender," A smallish girl greeted the tall man or Slender in the hallway after a bit. "Oh what beautiful dogs, with gorgeous fur!" She exclaimed, coming towards us. Ghost stood still, eyes wide. I growled loudly.
The strange thing was that she had a knife in one hand and her shirt was covered with blood. Her hair was scarlet red, it matched the blood on the knife. It smelled fresh Her eyes were as big as saucers, just observing until Ghost nudged me and I stopped growling.
"They're wolves," Slendy said telepathically as he had no mouth. It was a weird experience.
"Werewolves in our land, They had no where to go so I bought them here as they could be useful." He explained."This ones pretty!" The red haired girl gasped, stepping closer wearily. Her shock was none surprising, I was a naturally white wolf but years on the road and hunting had stained parts of my fur a different colour; in need of a good bath.
"Be careful Red." Slendy warned, as he walked into what looked like the kitchen. There was an odd smell wafting out and I couldn't help but follow Slender and Red.
Ghosts POV
We followed Slendy into a very bloody kitchen. There was a dark haired girl with eyes so dark they appeared black and empty, she was sat on the table, sharpening a pocket knife. "Hey Jane" Red said, sitting on Jane's lap with a satisfied smirk. "Hey Babe." Jane replied, wrapping her arms around Reds waist protectively.
"Jeff!" Red shouted. Another person walked into the kitchen, he had messy black hair and a wicked smile. He and the dark eyed Jane's appearance was so similar that they could've been related.
"What?" He replied, looking bored until his eyes locked with Jane's, and they looked like they were gonna kill each other.
Yep, must be family. I thought through the link, Spirit's ear twitched knowingly.
"Could you get a two pairs of skinny jeans off Jack, two tops off BEN and two jackets please?" Red asked.
"Why do you need clothes?" He asked, not taking his eyes of Jane."Well. they are werewolves and need clothes so we get to see their human forms." She replied smartly, confusing Jeff completely.
"Fine!" He whined as he walked up the stairs. After a lot of banging and crashing, Jeff returned from his journey upstairs with two pairs of everything Red asked him to get. He put them on the table with a scowl.
"Isn't she pretty Jane?" Red asked Jane, whilst pointing over to Spirit. I ignored them, grabbing the clothes I had been given and asked Slender if there were any place to change. He directed me to the bathroom in the hallway, across from the kitchen.
"Be careful, She bites and packs a good punch." I said uneasy when I re-entered the kitchen as a human, they looked at me with wide eyes.
"Uhhh, Spirit, go get changed, there's a bathroom directly across from here," I said "Stop being a spoilt puppy." She growled at the word puppy, she was my younger sister after all, but she was still way stronger than me.
She picked up the clothes and went to change. Jeff, Jane and Red were still staring at me. "What?" I asked, looking down at myself.
"Your furs dark, but you have white hair" Red stated. "Yeah, its weird." I replied with a smile. Spirit came back into the kitchen, her long curly brown hair was down and matted, needing a good, decent haircut and a wash.
"Is this your sister?" Red asked me. " Yeah and we're extremely close." I replied giving Spirit a smile. Slendy came back in the room, Spirit was on edge.
"Thanks for saving us back there." I said to Slendy."Your welcome, what are your names?" He replied. "I'm Ghost and this is my little sister Spirit" I replied.
"It's nice to meet you, welcome to your new home!"
