Ghost Pov

"How long have you been on the run?" Jane asked politely, readjusting Red on her lap as she bounced impatiently.

"A decent amount of years, I think this would be our sixth year since leaving our home pack." I answered honestly, these people were weird but welcoming. Even though we showed up and they seem to be murderers.

"Why were you out there?" Red asked nicely, not even trying to hide curiosity, " Well," I laughed , rubbing the back of my neck awkwardly.

"Our parents were alphas of a great and powerful pack, we didn't agree with them about some stuff and we ended up leaving."

"Woah. My parents didn't understand me either, but I killed them."  Red shrugged, as if it were no big deal.

"Don't talk much, do you?" Jane asked Spirit. She just shook her head, not saying a word.

"No, she's not been very talkative since everything happened, are you?" I asked, hoping that she would answer.

" I'm sorry, the last person who spoke to me was a douche, and he ended up dead. "she said, her voice was sinister as she glared at Jeff. His smile was creepy, it got bigger as Spirit addressed him with seemingly murderous intent.

"Can we keep them?" Jane asked Slendy, who randomly appeared in the kitchin, next to the cooker.

"If they want to stay." He replied.

"Who has cheesecake?" Spirit said, tilting her head towards the ceiling and sniffing the air. "She has a soft spot for cheesecake." I explained.

"The person with cheesecake is either Masky or Hoodie." Jeff said, turning his nose up.

"I don't understand the fuss about it, it's just dessert."

The dog from earlier walked in, he was in a bit of a state. There were puncture wounds from his encounter with Spirit earlier, she had been a little aggressive and defensive but the dogs wounds still had not clotted properly, getting blood everywhere.

"Who hurt Smile?" Jeff cried out in anger, he frantically looked around which caused the dog to get defensive again. Spirit let out a protective growl, the dog stayed put and submitted. Not wanting to get in the way of Spirit and her powerful jaw and sharp teeth again. I knew what the dog was feeling, I knew it well. Spirit was highly trained to defend herself and her family. We used to spar as kids, I was one of the only people who could hold their own against her brute force and strength. It was dangerous in the wrong hands, another reason we fled.

I put my hand on her shoulder and shook my head, silently saying she didn't need to defend me at the moment. She stood back a tiny bit, not much, but it was enough for the dog to stop reacting too.

Spirits Pov

Ghost held me back. My body reacted before my brain again. As she was a higher rank in the pack, I listened to Ghost. She was, for now, my alpha.

Jeff managed to calm himself and the dog, Smile down. I nodded a thank you to Jeff for calming and not over reacting to my defensive behaviour earlier.

"You can have the spare room until I get you a room sorted." Slendy said calmly.

He did everything telepathically, tone always calm and I didn't understand how to read his body language. He was a strange character.

"Jeff, would you go look for their stuff? I think its by the lake," Slendy, as I decided to call him, said. "Masky, take the girls to the spare room please!". A tall guy with dark brown hair and a black and white mask that covered his whole face, came in with a plate of cheesecake. He placed the plate back in the fridge. I wondered if it would be okay for me to sneak down later and eat the rest, I made a mental note to ask him if I saw him. If not, I would eat it anyway.

"I'll be back in a minute." I said to Ghost. She nodded again, knowing I would be back in a different form. "Alright, but don't hurt Smile again!" She said sternly. I walked back into the bathroom in the hallway and took the clothes off, shifting back into my favourite form. I was feeling hopeful about the new adventure and change, although I was hoping that the bathroom had a tub so I could soak for hours and get the muck off and out of my fur.

"Spirit, this way!" Ghost yelled from the bottom of the stairs , I walked through the kitchin and when Smile growled again, I puffed out my chest and stood tall. He stopped his growling, I nudged him with my head as an apology, then followed Ghosts scent up the stairs.

She was at the end of the hall waiting for me, with Masky, outside a black door. Masky opened the door, we walked inside. There were two double beds with matching chest of drawers, en suite bathroom and walk in wardrobe.

I jumped on the bed and curled up on the clean, black bedsheets. I was very tired and had begun to doze off, when I felt someone run their hand through my thick fur. I jumped up startled. Ghost was in the en suite. Masky was the only one in the room, my startled action had knocked the mask a little so his one eye and the bottom part or his face was showing; he had very pretty features and full pink lips.

"Your fur is soft, even though its a bit grubby." He said smiling. "It's very.... you?" He was wearing a puzzled expression, like he knew me.

Ghost returned after, wearing some pyjama shorts and a tank top. Masky looked at the floor, his whole face turning pink. Clearly someone had a crush on Ghost.

I looked at Ghost, she nodded politely at me, agreeing to translate so I wouldn't have to change forms again.

"She said thank you for her compliments, and that my fur is softer?." She looked confused. I looked at Masky knowingly and winking. He went even redder than before.

"Shes just a pup, about 16 right?" He asked, still looking pink. He reached out to rub behind my ear gently and slowly. He knew not to make sudden moves and spook me.

"Yeah, she needs to go to school still." Ghost replied. "We have school tomorrow, if she wants to come with us, Hoodie and I will look after her." He suggested. "She said She would love to go as long as Red goes too.", "Yeah, Slenderman makes her go." He laughed.

"Heard my name, and here you go, Thank Jeff." Slenderman said, popping his head round the door and giving Ghost the battered suitcases covered in leaves from when we stashed them earlier. "OMG, thanks Slendy, And Jeff!" She shouted, as she opened her tan camo bag to move her stuff over to the drawers.

She was too distracted by putting her stuff away that she didn't notice Masky slip out of the room and wish us a goodnight.

She mumbled again about me having the closet area but I slipped off into another world of dreamless, but peaceful sleep. Finally feeling safe and that I belonged.
