Last update of the year! And then I'll be on vacation to Miami... I'll be back by the end of January, but, if I get to write while travelling, I'll make sure to update =)

Chapter Thirteen - I'll be there for you
"I can't believe you were hiding this from me all this time!" Camille complained, slamming her hand on the table. I had just told her why I really came back to town, meaning Carl and the threesome situation. We were at her house, having a slumber party, just like we used to have while being teenagers.
Although, now, instead of having milk, we were having wine, and instead of talking books, we were talking relationships.
"I know. It's just, I wasn't ready to talk about it at all." I shook my head and ran my fingers through my hair.
"But... You talked about it with Collins." Camille reasoned with a teasing grin and I rolled my eyes, not being able to hide a smile.
"You're never gonna let me go with this, are you?" I question, still hoping. Since I told Camille about me dating Brody, she's been teasing me and laughing at me all the time.
"Never." She shook her head and I tilted my head to the back. We were seated on the couch of her living room and there was a movie going on in the TV although we weren't exactly watching.
"I really like him, Cam." I stated, now talking seriously. I never saw it coming and I never expected it to happen this fast, but Brody did enter my life and somehow, my heart without me even realizing it. Now all I had to do was accept his presence and enjoy it as long as it lasted.
"I know. He's always had a crush on you." My friend shrugged and I frowned at her. How was possible that she knew about his crush?
"You knew?" I asked, focused on getting an answer from her.
"Oh, come on! Everybody knew! He was always trying to get your attention." Camille raised her hands in the air, as if stating the obvious. To me, though, this was new.
"How come I was the only one who didn't know?" I asked in frustration and Camille laughed.
"You were too busy with your books?" Camille answered shrugging and I sighed. Maybe that was true.
Another thing that was also true was that I should be writing more, after all, that's what I came her for. Of course, to run from Carl too. But that was another matter, one that was long forgotten in the back of my head.
Looking at my watch, I sighed when I saw the time. "It's really late."
"It's a slumber party. Your mom won't mind if you stay up late." Camille joked, making me roll my eyes. We weren't teenagers anymore and life was so much different from before it was scary at times. Being back here in town made me think about that.
I left years ago without a clue to what I was going to do. Now I have a book published and an agent after me, pressuring me about my next book. Meanwhile, I have this crazy new relationship and I can't stand five minutes without thinking about Brody.
